THE JOB

We are looking for a Sample Management Supervisor to join our Laboratories Department in Merthyr Tydfil (Wales) where you will be accountable for leading members of the sample management team to ensure all aspects of sample receipt and dispatch of samples within the Laboratory S ervices department are met. They are responsible for the sample storage areas and cold storage units , including the contents . They will ensure that all samples are receipted into the department in a timely man ne r and stored appropriately to enable samples to be analysed internally within the required turnaround times. You w ill l iaise directly with sites, P r oject M anagers and C linical R esearch A ssociate s to resolve queries and dis crep ancies , allowing the results to be reported in a timely manner. You will be r esponsible for maintain ing sample storage logs and ensuring samples are discard ed as and when required with the relevant supporting documentation and ensuring samples that are required to be shipped to third - party referral labs are shipped with the relevant documentation when required, according to the specific
requirements outlined in laboratory documenta tion. You will also ensure the entire sample management team is trained to perform a high level of QC check to ensure all documentation is compliant with SOP's and guidelines.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Manage day to day aspects of the sample management group , including lin e management responsibilities .
  • Man age the sample storage and cold storage units .
  • Pr ocess and log all samples received into the l aboratory and into LIMS in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) .
  • Manage all sample queries in a timely man ne r for the duration of the study .
  • Upkeep of external electronic manifests .
  • Upkeep of sample management documentation , including referral, storage , temperature reports and sample shipment logs.
  • Responsible for all sample management templates, including but not limited to electronic manifests, sample query manifests, sample shipment logs, inventories and storage logs .
  • Responsible for the m anage ment of shipment s to referr al labs.
  • Ensure that work performed adheres to good practice regulations and guidelines .
  • M aintain personal training records, to demonstrate competency.


SKILLS REQUIRED

Essential
  • Experience in sample preparation with in a laboratory environment
  • Previous experience in working in an MHRA GCP and or ISO 17025
  • Science A level
  • Knowledge of sample tube type and processing requirements
  • Good attention to detail with QC experience
  • Previous line management responsibilities

Desirable
  • Science Degree or equivalent
  • Knowledge of ALCOA
