Cann Group Limited is building a world-class business focused on breeding, cultivating, manufacturing and supplying medicinal cannabis for sale and use within Australia and for approved overseas export markets. Cann also owns Satipharm, a Europe-based business exclusively licensed to manufacture, develop and market the proprietary Gelpell delivery system for cannabinoids. Cann has established research and cultivation facilities in Melbourne and is developing a state-of-the-art cultivation and manufacturing facility near Mildura, Victoria. Cann Group has established a leading position in plant genetics, breeding, extraction, analysis and production techniques required to facilitate the supply of medicinal cannabis for a range of diseases and medical conditions. Position Summary

This role will be responsible for identifying and securing relationships with new customers across Europe and manage existing customers accounts by proactively undertaking a variety of business development and sales activities, networking, marketing and customer service activity, in order to achieve targets.  

Working closely with the Australian commercial operations and business development teams, this position will play a key role in fulfilling Cann’s mission: to create a global Medicinal Cannabis commercial business in Australia and overseas. This position can be based in Germany or any part of Europe.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Primary responsibility for the effective development and implementation of the Global business development plan to deliver our KPIs in terms of Customer prospects, leads, proposals and contracted customers.
  • Lead all aspects of project management, from integration to implementation, for commercial innovation pipelines and other critical projects including new and existing products.
  • Liaise with external agencies and in-house teams to ensure commercial terms are aligned with regulatory framework/requirements.
  • Ensure commercial contracts are executed to deliver agreed margins.
  • Build the profile of the company globally, establishing the company as a reputable and reliable partner in Europe.
  • Delivers against aggressive sales and growth targets and plans both domestically and internationally. 
  • Drives  increased revenue and profit to achieve the Company’s ambitious growth targets internationally.
  • Opens and grows sales / distribution channels and markets.
  • Build international relationships with existing partners and new potentials customers/partners ensuring the highest standards of customer service.
  • Develop and implement a business plan that is aligned to achieve the company’s revenue and gross profit targets for the targeted regions (EU/Australia/NZ).
  • The role has primary responsibility for delivering the revenue target for each Australian financial year.
  • Communicate with key internal and external stakeholders, commercial operations, manufacturing, research & development, regulatory, quality teams to explore business opportunities in order to increase revenue and profitability.
  • Work with the business development team to define the go-to-market strategy in each market or country and target potential customers and partners.
  • Analyse international medicinal cannabis markets and provide feedback to the company which will help shape the International business plan and the Broader company strategic plan.
  • Collate and analyse sales figures, prepare proposals for business development campaigns. 
  • Prepare reports and recommendations in terms of sales and market strategies for senior management.
  • Explore, develop and maintain relationships with suppliers.
  • Promote, monitor, analyse and report on the effectiveness of projects to meet strategic and income generation objectives.
  • Research and build relationships with new clients, developing a rapport and providing support that will continually improve the relationship.
  • Grow and retain existing accounts by presenting new products to clients to enhance existing relationships.
  • Monitor and regularly report on key performance indicators and management processes within areas of responsibility and take appropriate action to achieve improved service delivery and business objectives.

The Successful Applicant 

Qualifications / Licences

  • Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field. 
  • Ideally experience in Medicinal Cannabis industry with focus on Global and EU markets.
  • International Police Clearance.


  • Prior work experience in the cannabis industry or supporting process improvements or product innovations is an asset.
  • Exceptional project management experience and interpersonal skills.
  • Healthcare experience particularly around new product/device development; Experience in a similar role is preferred.
  • Experience in the European customer/user market research and the translation of research findings into actionable items.
  • Strong experience in business development, mergers and acquisitions and business restructuring negotiations.
  • Export experience particularly around the logistics of moving product to around the world.
