THE JOB
We are looking for a Sample Co-Ordinator to join our Laboratories Department. You will be based in Merthyr Tydfil (Wales). You manage receipt and dispatch of samples within Simbec-Orion's Laboratory Services department to enable samples to be analysed internally, prepared for a referral to an external vendor laboratory or stored appropriately. You will be responsible for maintaining sample storage logs and discard with supporting documentation and you will ensure a high level of QC check to ensure all documentation is compliant with SOP's and guidelines. You will liaise directly with sites, project managers and CRAs to resolve queries allowing the results to be reported in a timely manner
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Process and log all samples received into the laboratory and into LIMS, in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Manage all sample queries for the duration of the study.
  • Upkeep of sample management including referral, storage and sample shipment logs.
  • Manage shipment of referral samples and reporting of results.
  • Carry out various general laboratory duties in order to ensure the efficient operation of the laboratory.
  • Ensure that work performed adheres to good practice regulations and guidelines

SKILLS REQUIRED

Essential
  • Experience in sample preparation within a laboratory environment
  • Science A level
  • Good attention to detail with QC experience

Desirable
  • Science Degree
  • Previous experience in working in an MHRA GCP and or ISO 17025
  • Knowledge of sample tube type and processing requirements
  • Knowledge of ALCOA
