THE POSITION

As Manager Global Tax Operations, you collaborate with experienced colleagues and ensure a high-quality and qualified tax compliance set-up. You will support the operating units with tax issues and steer international tax related activities. You manage external and internal partners, national and international stakeholders and authorities from our location in Ingelheim.

Tasks & responsibilities

  • In your new role you are working closely with the Boehringer Global Business Services (GBS) function and an external service provider in a globally centralized tax compliance set-up.
  • You are accountable for the correct handling of all tax compliance matters and for all different types of taxes that apply for Boehringer Ingelheim for dedicated Operating Units (especially CIT, VAT, WHT, Tax Accounting, etc.). In order to ensure tax compliance, you provide concepts and guiding principles to GBS and other global and local stakeholders for all countries in line with strategic targets.
  • In addition, you are responsible for steering all external and internal partners involved as well as manage all interactions with local tax authorities.
  • You manage the local tax audits in dedicated countries in alignment with BI's global tax set-up and tax audit strategy and ensure a robust defense position for future local tax audits.
  • Moreover, you ensure the implementation of the detailed results descriptions, quality standards and guiding principles as well as the TCCF (Tax and Customs Control Framework) for specific countries towards internal partners.
  • You are responsible of keeping track of relevant global and local tax law changes and their impact for the BI group. In order to ensure tax compliance within the BI group you align with the GBS function on relevant tax law changes on a regular basis and advice the GBS function in translating relevant tax law changes into new/ amended processes within the GBS organization.
  • Together with the Tax Process and Program Management you maintain and actively identify areas for performance improvements within the area of tax compliance for all dedicated BI group entities and support strategic goals for robust global tax compliance set up.


Requirements

  • Diploma/University degree with focus on Business Administration/ Law/ Economics or comparable major, ideally specialized in Tax or Certified German Tax Advisor or equivalent international education
  • Several years of relevant tax experience in-house or as consultant
  • First experience in working on international tax matters and knowledge about tax operations and guiding principles for tax compliance
  • Good organization, communication, and management skills
  • Hands-on mentality and solution-oriented
  • Experience working cross-culturally with diverse colleagues
  • Fluent in English, second language desirable
