Job Details

Hobson Prior are currently looking for an Analytical Development Scientist to join a brilliant pharmaceutical establishment on a permanent basis located in Edinburgh. Our client is focused on producing safer, more efficient, ascendable and inexpensive cell and gene treatments.

Please note that to be considered for this role you must have the right to work in this location.

Key Responsibilities:

  • For this role, you will be accountable for advancing research based analytical/bioassay strategies such as to the condition/fit for intention.
  • Uphold high standards of laboratory practices in all actions, which involve precise documenting and handling raw data aligned with business guidelines.
  • To design, implement and document experiments in electronic laboratory notebooks across a variety of analytical evolvement projects from academic and industrial environments, you will collaborate with high management and scientists.
  • To permit assay technology transfer both on an internal and external basis, the ideal candidate will generate detailed procedures and SOPs.
  • Accountable for implementing approved research self-sufficiently under minimal supervision.
  • When suitable, you will self-sufficiently assess raw data to a high standard and convey outcomes to internal project teams and external clients/partners using scientific documents, posters, and associate-assessed publications.

Requirements:

  • Educated to a degree level in a life science or biochemistry discipline with at least 3+ years of experience in a suitable setting to immune/stem cell analytical methods.
  • Able to travel for business needs.
  • Familiar with assay evolvement, optimisation and certification for cell therapy products.
  • Acquaintance with creating detailed procedures and SOPs in order to permit assay technology transfer on both an internal and external basis.
  • Know-how in analytical/assay improvement for cell therapy products.
  • Wide-ranging involvement in qPCR assay development, which involves primer design, DNA/RNA isolation/purification and PCR quantification using data analysis packages; Immunoassay development using practices like fluorescent flow cytometry and ELISA.
  • Experience with cell culture with pluripotent stems cells and/or immune cells such as lymphocytes, PBMCs, dendritic cells or any other clinically applicable cell types such as CD34+, MSCs.
  • Knowledge of digital PCR.
  • Previous involvement with assay development, optimisation and qualification for gene therapy products.
  • Practice with guaranteeing quality and uniformity during a bioprocess.
  • Comprehension of Design of Experiments (DoE), proficient with designing experiments.
  • Able to document experiments as well as document writing to ALCOA, which stands for Attributable, Legible, Contemporaneous, Original and Accurate principles of data veracity.
