Research Associate II

Mapi Research Trust (MRT) is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving patients’ quality of life by facilitating access to Patient-Centered Outcome (PCO) information. We promote scientific approaches in the PCO field and encourages exchanges between academics, pharmaceutical companies, and international organizations around the world in the service of incorporating the patient’s voice into every step of the development process of new treatments. https://mapi-trust.org .

We are looking for a Research Associate II to join our MRT team in Lyon.

As part of the Database Team , you will manage databases projects by updating existing data with appropriate questionnaires / drugs & devices / guidelines, according to predefined selection criteria to have the most comprehensive databases and facilitate response to customer requests.

Overview of role:
  • Selecting questionnaires / drugs & devices / guidelines to be included in our databases; proposing spontaneously different scenarios and recommendations, structured and documented propositions
  • Selecting relevant articles
  • Extracting and entering scientific data by
    • Searching for relevant information
    • Including/updating data collected (incl. those from author) into BackOffice (regular update, feedback from colleagues, clients, etc.)
    • Performing data Quality check
    • Sourcing and filing the related documentation
  • Contacting authors to request information on questionnaires
  • Answering questions related to databases about content and user experience
  • Participating in client demos by WebEx/TC, F2F
  • Writing Scoring instructions for instruments distributed by MRT
  • Performing Internet watch on technologies and scientific information (Health authorities, etc.)
  • Participating in writing abstracts and posters
  • Reporting: update of tables and monthly dashboards
  • Participating in the continuous improvement of the team processes
  • Participating in the training program for new team members or external resources
  • Solid knowledge of the development and validation of COAs
  • Client focus:
    • Customer service skills, including ability to communicate clearly and positively with clients (clarifying by questioning and reformulating) and resolve customer issues or complaints.
  • Project Management:
    • Ability to lead meetings, to qualify and formulate the need and requirement
    • Excellent ability to prioritize and organize multiple simultaneous tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion. Requires effective use of organizational and time management skills. Ability to propose different scenarios according to the priorities
    • Excellent ability to present information effectively, clearly, concisely and positively both orally and in writing (reports, instructions, procedures, guidelines, work note, work documents, specification, training session, abstracts, posters, article, marketing documents...)
    • Excellent ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form, with attention to detail
    • Efficiently manage own workload with respect to project scope, timelines and quality
  • Information search:
    • Excellent ability to search, find, evaluate relevance of, analyze, interpret, summarize, and compile data from various research sources
    • Ability to find new sources of information specifically related to a project
  • Fluency in English (written/oral)
  • Excellent ability to work with minimal supervision and demonstrate appropriate initiative when making decisions and problem-solving. Demonstrate flexibility and an open minded approach to task completion
  • Excellent ability to understand, apply, and use personal computers and various software applications (e.g. OUTLOOK, WORD, EXCEL, PowerPoint, Acrobat, etc.), and browse the Internet (visible and invisible web)
  • Ability to effectively work independently, as well as part of a team and with a diverse group of individuals in an international context
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding company financial and other information
  • Excellent ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work; teamwork and consensus-building skills, sharing of useful information and experience
  • Excellent ability to understand and use scientific techniques and methodological approaches
  • Ability to spot issues related to projects or organization, propose corrections orescalate to management team


What you need
  • Master’s degree or local equivalent in Life Sciences
  • Masters / Degree in Database / Document management / Scientific information specialist
  • Minimum of 2 years’ professional experience
  • Project Management
  • Statistics knowledge would be a plus
  • Clinical research knowledge would be a plus
  • Strong communication skills written and orally
