They work scientist to scientist, as a collaborative CRO partner to deliver integrated bioanalytical solutions for their client's toughest assay needs. Their Australian subsidiary is based in Melbourne, regarded as the biotech capital of the southern hemisphere.

The Opportunity
Your key remit will be to provide leadership and management of our client's Scientific Operations team and ensure that the group supports pharmacokinetic and pharmacodynamic endpoints for clinical trials and preclinical studies.
  • Deliver managerial oversight of your team, (10+), and participate in defining milestones and managing systems and processes for your department.
  • Design and troubleshoot assays for research projects, preclinical studies, and clinical trials in consultation with the bioanalytical team.
  • Collaborate in a cross functional matrix environment and ensure high levels of communication with colleagues (local and global) and productive relationships with clients, CROs, collaborators and partners.
  • Adhere to ISO/IEC 17025, ISO 15189, OECD Principles of GLP, & QMS guidelines.
  • Undertake a leadership role in the coordination of method development, optimisation and validation of analytical methods and assays, including LCMS, LCMS/MS and HPLC.
  • Perform data analysis and data integrity reviews
  • Produce and review reports and presentations for communication to clients and external bodies.
  • Proactively manage strategic relationships and represent the company and the group in interactions with clients from initial technical discussions through to study initiation, execution and reporting.
  • Fulfil the role of Study Director (as required).
The Requirements
  • BSc(min) or PhD in Biology (or related discipline) & experience in industry leadership.
  • Extensive medical laboratory techniques in a quality managed environment ISO/IEC 17025, GLP, GCLP.
  • Assay validation and knowledge of ICH, FDA and EMA guidelines
  • Immunology assays including ELISpot, cytokine analyses, flow cytometry and ELISA.
  • Experience in the growth and propagation of viruses, virology assays, molecular methods & assays (e.g., PCR)
  • Testing therapeutic drugs, immunotherapies and/or vaccines preferably in industry or CRO.
  • Theoretical biology and the practical aspects of biological assay procedures and analysis of assay results
  • Experience in leading and motivating a team of Scientists.
  • High motivation and enthusiasm for medical research, drug and vaccine development.
