We have an exciting opportunity available for a Research Scientist to join our Translational Research team, based at Bio 21 Institute, in the heart of Melbourne's Biomed Precinct.
You will manage the development, evaluation and implementation of multi-omic approaches for identifying disease and drug-associated biomarkers. This work will be undertaken to support the development of novel protein-based therapeutics (e.g. recombinant antibodies and other protein mediators) that target and modulate the function of specific cell types.

You will manage the development, evaluation and implementation of multi-omic approaches for identifying disease and drug-associated biomarkers. This work will be undertaken to support the development of novel protein-based therapeutics (e.g. recombinant antibodies and other protein mediators) that target and modulate the function of specific cell types.
Reporting into the Senior Research Scientist, your main responsibilities will be to:
- Contribute to and support the analysis, visualization, and interpretation of complex "multi" -omic datasets generated from preclinical and translational studies, non-interventional research studies, interventional clinical trials in addition to public data sets and biobanks
- Contribute to the performance of in vitro screening strategies including transcriptomic and proteomic analysis of blood and tissue to identify potential biomarkers of disease/indications and drug-responses
- Ensure completion of Translational Research goals as defined by Research Therapeutic Area Leads, Translational and Clinical teams to support MoA studies, biomarker discovery and development, target discovery & validation, and patient enrichment.
- Help review new product opportunities and partnerships from external collaborators to bring new projects into the pipeline and/or support the progression of existing research and clinical programs across therapeutic areas
- Identify and implement new assay platforms to be used in in vitro and in vivo evaluation of therapeutic candidates
Qualifications & Experience Required:
- PhD in Immunology, Molecular Biology or a biomedical/related discipline with skills in computational analysis methods
- 2+ years post-doctoral experience in a highly collaborative, interdisciplinary environment in academia and/or industry with a focus on translational research and multi-omic analysis
- Experience applying methods to analyze multi-omic datasets to draw biological insights from experimental data.
- Experience building and using analysis methods and databases to answer important research questions related to experimental design, mechanism of action (disease and/or therapeutics) biomarker discovery, patient stratification and target discovery and validation
- Experience applying network biology and pathway analysis algorithms using open source and/or commercial tools
- Proven track record of publications and presentations at national and international conferences and industry events.
- Experience with molecular biology and RNA handling
