Technology Lead, focusing on MRI needed for a Global Healthcare company

I am supporting a Global Healthcare company, who enable clinicians to make faster, more informed decisions, through intelligent devices.

My client is looking for a Technology Leader, who will manage the scientific and technical input for the development of new imaging contrast agent (MRI) throughout the preclinical, clinical and post-marketing phases.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain the imaging strategy in line with the project strategy of the MRI products
  • Strong background in MR physics and expertise in using MR imaging techniques in a clinical environment
  • Ability to develop imaging manuals, training materials and quality manuals for clinical research studies across different MRI scanner vendors
  • Understand the requirements of a drug development pipeline (Phase 1-4) and scientific methodology
  • Proven track record of working across multiple functions with diverse teams.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with the respective staff participating in this development including the Project Stream Leaders, the Project Director, Clinical Study Team Leader, relevant staff at participating clinical study centers in order to fulfill the needs of the clinical study.
  • Set the imaging requirements at clinical sites and ensure that these are recorded appropriately.
  • Represent imaging competence in Pharmaceutical Diagnostics - R&D globally.
  • Coach and develop junior team members with a focus on knowledge of clinical trials and medical imaging techniques.
  • Provide imaging project plan and ensure competent imaging resource estimates for research initiatives, clinical trial execution and supply budgets.
  • Maintain competence in the modality associated with the position (e.g. through a Continuous Professional Development program).
  • Travel to international and domestic clinical study sites to assist with or perform initiation and training. Site training may be performed remotely (i.e. via web conference).
  • Build cross-business strategies between Pharmaceutical Diagnostics and Healthcare Systems.
  • Clinical study image data management for internal and external customers according to Good Clinical Practice, company procedures and guidelines.

Background

  • Strong background in MRI including contrast agents and another imaging modalities (desired but not mandatory).
  • PhD in a relevant science discipline such as Medical Physics, Physics, Biomedical Engineering etc.
  • Expertise in scanner qualification and protocol set up across different scanner vendors.
  • Knowledge in the scientific and clinical research of diagnostic imaging agents. Proven experience in analyzing medical images and familiarity with clinical practice.
  • A high degree of initiative, ability to work systematically and independently. Experience identifying and troubleshooting technical problems.
  • Use of medical imaging workstations.
  • Excellent oral and written command of English.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and teamwork.

Desirable Skillls:

  • Experience working in industry.
  • Relevant professional qualifications and certifications (e.g., State Registration as a Clinical Scientist or Board Certification, Member or Fellow in an appropriate professional body etc.)
  • Familiarity with commercializing scientific ideas and/or previous industrial experience and communication with clinical/ healthcare experts.
  • Experience with programming languages (MatLab, C++, Python, IDL etc.).
  • Prior experience working in industry, an imaging core lab, clinical trials, or similar environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, matrixed, and customer focused environment; experience with cross-site research collaborations.
  • Ability to persevere and work effectively during high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to multitask.
