Job details

Manages the proposal process from receipt of Request For Proposal (RFP) to proposal completion as the functional representative for the Risk Based Monitoring (RBM)/Central Monitoring (CeM) service area, including developing operational and budget strategies. Suggests and implements proposal strategies focused on the inclusion of central monitoring services. Collaborates with team members, operations and business development, to customize and develop proposal submissions.

Responsibilities for this role are as follows:
  • Review and approve budgets within SYNH International Costing Engine (ICE) and contribute to proposal deliverables (e.g., proposal template, PPT proposals, cover letters, etc.) developed by the Global Proposal Development team on behalf of the RBM/CeM area; May include development of customized text or power point presentations, responding to Requests For Information (RFI), and reviewing mapping of client grids.
  • Develop expert monitoring strategy (CeM and Clinical Operations) aligned with risks, study design and SYNH standards demonstrating critical thinking, RBM knowledge and competitive pricing concepts.
  • Liaise with Business Unit Lead (BUL), Therapeutic Area Lead (TAL), Client Relationship Executive (CRE) and other functional review leads (Clinical Operations, Data Management) to review and agree upon RBM/CeM strategy and specifications for each budget and proposal, and to ensure alignment with RFP/Client specifications, Therapeutic Business Unit (TBU) guidances, specific study needs, and other internal strategy discussions.
  • Adhere to RFP timeline strictures, including completing initial risk assessment strategy within 48 hours of RFP assignment and conducting strategy review call with CRE/ClinOps Lead and Central Monitoring-Point of Contact (CM-POC) as applicable within 24 hours of initial RFP Framing/Operational Planning Call.
  • Communicate proactively, demonstrating a high degree of responsiveness, accuracy and professionalism with other stakeholders (internal and external).
  • Ensure accuracy and quality of all outputs both internal and external at every step in the RFP process.
  • Escalate to management when deliverables are at risk based on process stage gates.
  • Act as subject matter expert for RBM/CeM area for the organization; Provides functional guidance and application of process guidelines to internal constituents as needed.
  • May be asked to train new hires to the department.
  • May perform peer-to-peer QC prior to manager sign-off according to departmental procedures and guidelines.

Other responsibilities include:
  • Supporting functional team / CMPOC in Bid Defense Meeting preparation;
  • Proactively identifying enhancements to processes and tools and guidances related to budgeting and proposals to drive cost effective and high quality proposals;
  • Participating in departmental, crossdepartmental and organizational level improvement initiatives;
  • Performing ongoing role and industry based training to ensure current knowledge and good comprehension of ICH GCP E6 R2 and all of SYNH services for the RBM/CeM areas across Phase IIV and Medical Device & Diagnostics;
  • Compliance with administrative requirements including, for example: SOPs, Annual CV updates, weekly timesheets/PTO requests, required trainings for department activities, self assignment/review of departmental shared mailbox daily, and updating departmental trackers daily
What we're looking for

Experience:
  • BA/BS degree or equivalent in a business or health related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience;
  • 7-10 years' experience working in budgets/proposal development and/or having had a lead role in the project management or clinical area in the CRO/pharmaceutical industry is preferred;
  • Good understanding of the different operational aspects of clinical study conduct in different regions across the world, which may be demonstrated by previous work experience in the industry;
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint); Ideal to have at least some knowledge of systems widely used among the industry, e.g., central monitoring software (Spotfire, CluePoints, etc.), SharePoint, Salesforce, etc.

Soft Skills:
  • Superior analytical and negotiation skills with excellent financial acumen;
  • Strong problem solving skills and ability to make effective, appropriate decisions when necessary on behalf of the central monitoring service area;
  • Above-average attention to detail, excellent oral/written communication skills along with highly-developed interpersonal and strong team orientated skills;
  • Natural problem solver with a penchant for challenges;
  • Ideal time-management skills, i.e., able to maintain highest quality work within a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment against a typically high workload;
  • Team player but also works very well independently;
  • Highly organized and able to self-manage time and workload;
  • Able to work from home office (very limited to no travel required);
  • Although travel is rarely required, national or international travel may occur once or twice per year.
