We are seeking a senior business development executive as Cytel’s world-wide leader of Real World and Advanced Analytics (RWAA) business development to join our high growth, fast paced and dynamic commercial team.

You will be highly experienced in leading sales teams with a focus on Global HEOR consultancy and RWD offerings, scaling commercial operations, driving high quality client-oriented presentations and proposals as well as collaborating with commercial operations, marketing, legal and business leadership to manage complex, multi-stakeholder engagements. You will work closely with the RWAA business leaders, including frequent interactions with the RWAA global head, and in addition to being a senior member of the commercial team, you will participate in all relevant business unit discussions, shaping the business strategy as it relates to go-to-market approaches.

Your Impact

You are responsible for ensuring that Cytel’s vision and differentiated offering are brought to life by the business development team consistently and with high quality bespoke client facing materials, ultimately driving the expansion of the organization’s client base. Be the driving force in the development of the work ethic, culture and values of the business development group. Through personal example, establish the style and approach that characterize the Company’s dealings with the HEOR, Market Access and RWD marketplace.

What we are looking for
  • 10+ years of high-level business development leadership experience with proven experience building, managing, motivating and retaining high performing business development teams.
  • 3+ years of experience of either direct sales or leading teams of business development professionals focused on HEOR, Market Access and RWD.
  • A track record of developing corporate or regional sales plans including territory planning, sales projections, hiring, training and developing business development professionals.
  • Experience developing and implementing commission plans.
  • Ability to assess, plan, and actively manage global budgets to achieve maximum productivity of a diverse team of inside and outside BD professionals
  • Exceptional collaboration skills with different internal teams; ability to communicate, present and influence all levels of the organization, including executive leadership
  • Experience with strategic partnership development and management
  • Proven experience managing complex contract negotiations.
  • The ability to lead new customer engagements with limited support.
  • University Degree (advanced degrees preferred)


Some Of Your Main Responsibilities And Deliverables Will Include
  • Lead a team of business development professionals globally supporting the Real World & Advanced Analytics business unit of Cytel
  • Contribute to all and lead some RWAA business unit discussions around go-to-market approaches.
  • Continue the expansion of the department, coordinating resource and staffing requirements to meet the needs of the rapidly growing commercial team.
  • Actively manage the business development team members to prepare and execute account and territory plans to achieve growth targets.
  • Oversee the hiring and development of business development team members.
  • Support team members as they determine customer needs, match Cytel’s capabilities to those needs, and position Cytel as the choice amongst competitors, including both full service CROs and niche specialty providers.
  • Create, build and manage excellent client and internal Cytel relationships.
  • Drive the development of global, regional and country specific sales strategies for each of Cytel’s core RWAA clients.
  • Put in place systems; update and maintain responsibility for customer relationship management, forecasting and quoting.
  • Develop pricing policies, including volume discounts and terms and conditions, for customers and partners.
  • Manage overall sales process, set appropriate metrics for sales funnel management.
  • Spearhead business development initiatives that are consistent with the company’s overall strategy.
