Our UK site in York is currently recruiting for anAssay Development Scientist to join the CMC (Chemistry, Manufacturing Controls) division and will be responsible for the efficient development and optimisation of analytical methods within BioPharm CMC, in accordance with Client requirements and associated protocol and procedures.

Job responsibilities include:
  • Primarily responsible for the development and establishment of cell-based analytical procedures within BioPharm CMC that demonstrate the biological function of therapeutics
  • The individual is recognised as a developing Subject Matter Expert (SME) in cell-based methods. Responsible for the scientific conduct and process associated with studies assigned to them, including review and approval of data and documentation where relevant
  • Has close and regular liaison, with clients, QC operations teams, project managers and GMP Quality Assurance. Is actively involved in scientific discussion with clients, under the guidance of a more senior scientist and provides advice on scientific escalation and assay troubleshooting where necessary.
Education/Qualifications:
  • Undergraduate Degree in life sciences or related discipline
Experience:
  • Experience in mammalian cell culture
  • Experience in cell-based assays (e.g. flow cytometry, reporter-gene cell lines, cytotoxicity)
  • Meticulous attention to detail and a s trong team player but also able to work independently
  • Technical interest and enthusiasm and willingness to learn
  • Ability to write and follow protocols, e xcellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to troubleshoot cell based assays and e xperience of relative potency assays
  • Ability to design experiments
  • Knowledge and skills to use more specialist lab equipment (such as flow cytometers, Biacore, plate readers etc.)
  • Ability to write standard operating procedures
  • Industrial experience in a regulatory environment
