Are you passionate about non-viral delivery to enable future applications of RNA and gene therapies? Would you like to make a difference and be part of a dedicated team driving intracellular drug candidates towards clinical development across Novo Nordisk therapeutic indications? Then this job will be the right one for you.

The Position:

As the Director and Head of the department of Non-viral Delivery your key responsibilities will be to develop non-viral delivery methods and characterization thereof via internal and external innovation. Ideal delivery methods for RNA and gene therapies are central to successfully convert the growing number of intracellular targets to drug candidates.

The position includes

  • Immediate expansion of the team and capabilities
  • Leadership of scientists and lab technicians in the department
  • Contribution to the continued innovation and improvement of laboratory methods within the field of non-viral delivery
  • Engagement with the external innovation community to evaluate and/or co-create emerging non-viral technologies
  • Member of the RNA and Gene Therapies leadership team
  • Close collaboration with the three other departments in the area, i.e. RNA Technologies, Genome Editing and Viral Delivery as well as other relevant areas in Global Research Technologies (GRT) and Global Drug Discovery (GDD)

Qualifications:

To be a successful candidate, we expect:

  • You hold degree as PhD in chemistry or biology with 8+ years of relevant non-viral delivery or related formulation work record and proven leadership experience
  • You have experience within state-of-the-art lipid nanoparticle (LNP) delivery of therapeutic nucleic acid cargo and potentially alternative non-viral delivery methods. Research scale production, purification and characterization of nanoparticles, e.g. LNP, with and without cargo are among the essential techniques
  • You have experience with chemical modifications of nanoparticles including establishment of assays analyzing these formulations
  • You have experience with external collaborations
  • Work experience within Pharma R&D is considered an advantage

As a person, you are:

  • Motivated to explore new ideas and methods in order to drive innovation for the benefit of our patients
  • Taking initiatives, problem-solving tasks and influencing strategies
  • Strong communicator internally and externally
  • Thriving in a changing and dynamic work environment with a team player mentality

About the department:

Non-viral Delivery is a newly established department with a clear purpose of enabling future applications of RNA and gene therapies. The department is a part of the RNA and Gene Therapies area which belong to the Global Research Technologies area at Novo Nordisk. We are developing curative and disease modifying therapies for individuals living with serious chronic conditions, spearheaded via co-creational innovation with external partners. Treatment of disease mechanisms operating inside cells, including gene expression is enabled by emerging intracellular drug modalities. Using state of the art technologies, we are building genome editing and RNA capabilities, and establishing viral and non-viral drug delivery platforms, to enable disease-specific design of impactful drugs.
