We are currently recruiting for a Mass Spectrometry Scientist within our Metabolism department at our Harrogate site, North Yorkshire. This is a permanent full time position.

We are looking for a skilled and experienced scientist to provide specialist analytical and mass spectrometry support. In this role you will work on extraction and quantitative LC-MS/MS analysis of samples from a number of different study types using state of the art equipment (e.g. Sciex LC/MS, Agilent Stream Select and Hamilton Star Lab). You will be providing quantitative characterization of components in a variety of matrices from in vitro metabolism studies. This is a varied role with a level of independence to organise your own workload.

About the Job

  • The extraction and quantitative LC-MS/MS analysis of samples from a number of different study types using state of the art equipment (e.g. Sciex LC/MS, Agilent Stream Select and Hamilton Star Lab)
  • Development of methods and troubleshooting to provide solutions to issues as they arise.
  • Working alongside Study Directors, to provide input into scientific reports
  • Effective communication of results and scientific rationale to both internal and external customers.
  • Mentoring and support of more junior members of staff.

Education/Qualifications:
To be successful in this position, you will typically be educated to BSc/MSc in a relevant life science subject.
Experience:
  • Good analytical chemistry skills with expertise in preparation and analysis of samples by LC-MS.
  • Ideally experience using Sciex LC/MS, Agilent Stream Select and/ or Hamilton Star Lab.
  • A sound understanding of chromatographic techniques along with experience of method development and qualification.
  • Experience of developing quantitative methods for both small and large molecules.
  • High levels of motivation along with strategic thinking in this area.
  • Strong client focus.
  • Excellent communication and planning/ organisation skills.
