The Opportunity

We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced Operations Engineer to join our dynamic Engineering Operations team at our Parkville (Australia) manufacturing site. In this full-time position you will support the successful operation of process, plant and facilities as well as investigate, evaluate, promote and implement methods to improve overall reliability, functionality and efficiency while ensuring the requirements of cGMP manufacturing are maintained.

The Role

Reporting to the Engineering Operations Manager and collaborating with key stakeholders across the site, your key responsibilities will include:
  • Plant Operation Investigations and Improvements
  • Act as interface for routine and breakdown maintenance activities
  • Participate in capital improvement and upgrade projects, plus plant commissioning and decommissioning.
  • Act as primary contact for operation, shutdowns and maintenance of utilities, including Electricity, Deionised water, distilled water/steam, Compressed Air, Domestic Water, Plant Steam, Trade waste, Cooling/Heating Water, HVAC
  • Work with a range of stakeholders to effectively plan and execute major facility and plant shutdowns
  • Ensure all activities are carried out in accordance with cGMP Compliance, Quality Control and Regulatory Compliance
  • Ensure compliance with all Victorian and National Health and Safety regulations


An inherent requirement of this role ison-call availability for out-of-hours operation support, on a rotating roster.

To be considered for this role, you must possess:
  • University degree in a relevant Engineering discipline (Chemical or Mechanical preferred)
  • 5+ years' experience in relevant industry with highly automated production environment - preferably pharmaceutical/biotech (liquid filling) or other similar.
  • Well developed knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and regulatory and compliance codes related to manufacturing/production/engineering (cGMP, GLP, OH&S, ISO 9002).
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills - ability to adapt quickly to changing requirements
  • Strong influencing skills and ability to make recommendations and persuade
  • Confident internal and external stakeholder management with cross-functional teams and groups at various levels
  • Excellent planning management and scheduling flexibility to manage changing priorities and still meet timelines
  • Proven experience in contributing to a collaborative, supportive team and with independent self-motivation
  • Working knowledge of SAP, plus competent skills in Microsoft Office suite


Other preferred skills, knowledge and attributes:
  • General understanding of all mechanical services systems, plant and hardware for a large scale pharmaceutical manufacturing site. Particular knowledge of water treatment, HVAC, refrigeration, industrial steam generation, compressed air generation and reticulated site services is desirable.
  • ideally demonstrate knowledge of Condition Monitoring and Reliability Centred Maintenance
