My client has developed an exciting and novel platform which promises to fundamentally change vaccine development by shortening timelines to create high potency, reduced cost vaccines which are able to be deployed to regions with poor cold chain provision.

Based near the University of Bristol, the company has secured robust funding and have completed proof of concept work and are now looking to further develop and scale up their pipeline.

The Role

To do this they are looking for a knowledgeable and passionate Head of Preclinical Development with strong experience gained in a commercial R&D context and demonstrable expertise gained in leading preclinical development of a biological product, ideally a Vaccine or Immunology product.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Minimum 8-10 years’ experience of Preclinical development of vaccine or immunotherapy products. Previous Head of Preclinical development at a large pharma, biotech or speciality company desired.
  • PhD or MD with primary focus in either Immunology, Cellular Biology, Infectious Diseases
  • Experience of setting up and managing Quality and Regulatory documentation/systems in accordance with GMP, contracting and managing CROs  
  • ‘Hands on’ experience of both In Vitro and In Vivo investigation to assess safety and efficacy of vaccine or immunotherapy products.
  • Experience of assay development and regulatory requirements would be advantageous.
