Job Details

Position Summary:

The Director of Engineering is responsible for new product design and development, product lifecycle engineering in Bionics for Australia and New Zealand.

You'll lead and develop the Product Development and Engineering Teams in New Zealand and ensure the engineering functions effectively support the commercial development of the business.

Working with the Executive and international teams you'll optimize current products for the China market and contribute to technology and manufacturing transfer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and leads high-performance teams to deliver new products and maintain existing products
  • Owns the product realization processes. Develops and improves processes and practices to meet company and regulatory requirements.
  • Works effectively as part of a global leadership team, across counties and time zones
  • Influences team performance through effective leadership and by understanding critical skills, critical roles and team chemistry.
  • Responsible for delivery of projects
  • Responsible for team and project budgets
  • Manages outside vendors, contractors, and development partners
  • Contributes to IP strategy. Encourages generation of new IP
  • Contributes to global product strategy and roadmap
  • Other tasks as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

Essential

  • Minimum of five years' experience in medical device development
  • Minimum 10 years' experience as a leader project lead/ project manager
  • Excellent working knowledge of medical device regulatory requirements
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering or Science
  • Ability to travel regularly as required, in particular to Auckland, Melbourne and China

Desirable

  • Experience in robotics/ motion control
  • Understanding of Chinese business culture

  • QMS
