Job Overview

  • Senior Manager, Clinical Data Management, r equired to work for Labcorp Drug Development within Clinical Development Services working within Phases II-IV.
  • Responsibility for ensuring successful delivery of Data Management services to clients and project teams including monitoring compliance and performance while maintaining quality.
  • Responsibility for the professional and personal development for assigned individuals within Data Management.
  • Previous experience of line managing Clinical Data Managers essential.
  • This is a permanent role, either office based, or home based anywhere in Europe or South Africa.

Job Primary Functions

  • Ensure that the work carried out in the Data Management department is in strict accordance with relevant protocols, SOPs and GCP and that the quality of all services meets or exceeds customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with peers to develop global harmonized SOPs and specific quality processes and procedures for Data Management activities.
  • Responsibility for managing Data Management line reports to include managing performance and career development, regular catch ups and status meetings ensuring that all group members are aware of objectives at all times. Ensure attention is also paid to interpersonal skills and achievement of competency standards. Review any individual issues staff proactively and in a timely fashion, creating and maintaining performance plans, as appropriate. Provide constructive feedback as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with peers to establish global Data Management competency models and assist with the development of training programs and ensure staff achievement of position competencies.
  • Support Data Managers to ensure that studies are delivered according to Sponsor requirements on time, to high quality and within budget. Manage all project team members effectively providing training, acting as source of advice and performing QC as appropriate.
  • Responsibility for reviewing and inputting into the Data Management budget. Work with Director of the department to ensure costs are kept low. Ensure that department financial needs and business requirements are both met in order that the department maintains a high operating margin.
  • Identify and implement process improvement solutions.
  • Establish and maintain strategic client relationships and receive client satisfaction surveys and implement appropriate action plans as necessary.
  • Actively support business development activities including participation in Bid Defence's, Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Request for Information (RFIs).
  • Participate in departmental recruitment and hiring decisions.
  • Participate in client, internal or agency audits and inspections.
  • Deputise for Director or other department managers, as appropriate.
Education/Qualifications:
University/college degree (life science, pharmacy or related subject preferred) or equivalent experience.
Experience:
  • Broad knowledge of drug development process, effective clinical data management practices, ICH Guidelines and GCP.
  • Strong managerial and interpersonal skills with the ability to motivate staff and inspire effective teamwork especially during periods of difficulty.
  • Previous line management experience required of Clinical Data Managers.
  • Thorough understanding of budgets, time and cost estimate development, pricing strategies and processes, comprehension of how long tasks to include reviewing and working with metrics and additional knowledge of resource management (to include systems/processes).
  • Skilled in the use of data management software application(s).
  • The ability to work flexibly, demonstrate constructive problem solving using effective communication, prioritization and organization techniques.
  • Proven ability to lead by example on project strategies and achievement of department goals, objectives and initiatives and to encourage team members to seek solutions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills.
