Permanent position available to join our Phase I Clinical Research Unit in Leeds, West Yorkshire, as aLaboratory Administrator. This is a unique opportunity to gain experience within Clinical research/trials and allow you to continue to practice your leadership skills.

About the Role

Your main duties will include, but not be restricted to:
  • Assists with the preparation of technical and laboratory documentation.
  • Follows the laboratory procedures for specimen handling and processing.
  • Operates, maintains and cleans laboratory equipment.
  • Recognizes deviations from expected results and follows up appropriately.
  • Processes and ships PK samples according to study specific instructions.
  • Participates in the collection of biological specimens. Evaluates and solves problems related to the collection and processing of specimens.
  • Facilitates the work flow through the laboratory to ensure completion of processing in a timely manner for all studies assigned to the site.
  • Inventories reagents and supplies to ensure uninterrupted operations.
  • Working with the Scientific Director and Associate Medical Director: for any new equipment act as initial contact, write and perform appropriate acceptance tests involving Clinical Operations staff as appropriate. Ensure that all documentation is filed appropriately in preparation for audit.
  • Act as the initial point of contact for any equipment/laboratory issues. Share expertise with team members as appropriate to ensure that the most effective and efficient processes are followed.
  • Attends initiation meetings, as required.
  • Performs process audits, as required.
  • Works with study team to ensure protocol specifications are followed.
  • Handles hazardous materials, reagents and chemicals in a safe manner in accordance to laboratory policy and procedure.
  • Washes laboratory glassware and maintains general laboratory cleanliness.
  • Completes special projects.
  • Supports and participates in Corporate and Department initiatives regarding quality system implementation, maintenance, and continuous quality improvement activities.
  • Assists in training other staff members in new procedures.

Education/Qualifications:
  • Educated to A Level including a Science Subject. A Science degree is also preferable.
Experience:
  • Recent and relevant Clinical Laboratory experience.
  • Additional laboratory experience may be substituted for education requirements.
