We are currently looking for a Manager, Clinical Operations - Observational Research to be based office or homebased in Italy, Spain, Belgium or UK.

The Manager is responsible for the training, development and management of Observational Research Specialists and Sr. Observational Research Specialists. The Manager supports new business through involvement in proposal development and bid defences. They will support customer initiatives related to observational/non-interventional research. Additionally, the Manager will be responsible for the development of processes and procedures and continuous improvement in processes and procedures that result in quality deliverables. The Manager works independently, under supervision of the Director or Senior Director.

Key Accountabilities
  • Undertake the full range of duties relevant to the leadership, management and development of the team to ensure their performance meets both the business and their own personal goals/objectives
  • Maintain a positive, results orientated work environment, building partnerships and modeling teamwork, communicating to the team in an open, balanced and objective manner
  • Implement and refine procedures, processes and guidelines related to execution of observational studies; develop and/or provide input into training material related to observational studies and procedures
  • Provide operational input into specific proposals related to observational studies
  • Conduct formal staff review processes e.g. performance and salary reviews to corporate standards and timescales
  • Manage and oversee team activities including appropriate resourcing of staff, staff assignments
  • Provide consultation and develop action plans in conjunction with Management/Project Leadership/Leads to keep projects on time and within budget
  • Support efforts for generating business leads (client networking, public speaking, etc.).

  • Qualifications

    Work Experience
  • Strong previous experience working on Observational projects(as ORS/CRA)
  • Experience in managing ORSs/CRAs
  • Management experience in clinical monitoring (on-site and remote) required, data management and/ or epidemiology research.
  • Solid understanding of observational/non-interventional research methodology and terminology is preferred.

  • In-depth knowledge and experience in managing staff involved in study site management
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, presentation and written communication skills
  • Sound problem solving and analytical skills
  • Strong customer service skills
  • A flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning
  • Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm and prioritize workload with attention to detail across multiple-projects
  • Ability to manage and motivate direct reports and lead a virtual global team
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant software: Windows, Word, Excel, Outlook
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Willing and able to travel as required - local or international
  • Education
  • Educated to degree level (biological science, pharmacy or other health-related discipline preferred)
  • Language Skills
  • Competent in written and oral English and relevant local languages
