Field Application Specialist (f/m/d) for Process Chromatography 

Location: Home-Based

The Field Application Specialist (Field Support Scientist) (m/f/d), a member of the Process Chromatography Media sales team, is responsible for providing technical expertise to customers in the field. The technical expertise is critical important to support customers in the route from drug development to commercial product related to downstream process challenges. The focus is to develop long term non transactional sales project results from thousands to multiple million dollar annual sales revenues. In addition, the role has a responsibility to support the lab technician by execution of customer projects at FAS Lab in Puchheim.

Job Responsibilities 

  • Scientific & technical support of Process Chromatography sales team and customers with the goal to integrate Bio-Rad media into the industrial process for purification of active pharmaceutical ingredients (API’s)
  • Initiate, design, and execute studies for customer projects to develop and/or optimize purification steps using Bio-Rad media in the application lab or at customer’s labs
  • Planning, design and performing chromatographic purification of proteins from feed streams provided by customers or on model samples
  • Solving issues related to Bio-Rad’s products at customers to support PCD sales specialists
  • Training of customers and employees, inclusive resin packing support
  • Write, design and present reports and presentation of results and present it to internal and external Partner
  • Create & perform presentations at scientific and technical meetings
  • Guide and Support European Application Lab technician to perform chromatographic experiments including required analytics and interpretation as well as demonstrations for customers (no reporting line)

Your Qualification

  • 3-5 year experience in the biopharmaceutical industry preferred
  • Broad experience in the development of separation methods (downstream) for the purification of pharmaceutical active proteins, ideally with the scope of up-scaling to an industrial process
  • Experience in cGLP, cGMP, and other relevant guidelines and norms for biopharmaceutical production development.
  • Broad experience in resin column packing from small to midsize
  • Ideally experienced in creating SOP and working instructions governed by the relevant norms and guidelines.
  • Ideally experienced in a support function oriented to sales and customer facing activities
  • Ability to take leadership in developing technical expertise in team, work independently, work on multiple projects with clients, sales, marketing, and R&D team
  • Results and sales driven mind
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and German
  • Ability to travel through mainly Europe
