Lead/Senior Data Scientist

My client is a start up in the alternative protein space, looking for a Lead/Senior Data Scientist to join their small team onsite in Berlin.

The company utilise the power of plants and technology to create alternatives that replicate (taste, smell, texture) diary, animal and meat products.

The organisation is looking for someone to join their CSO and build the computational infrastructure from scratch.
You will be responsible for all things data - full stack from data engineering through to deployment.
To begin with you will be the only individual to open the data science team, so you need to be comfortable doing the hands on engineering work yourself.
As the team grows, you will be playing an important role in hiring the right individuals to delegate these tasks too - guiding the technical direction of the company

**this is with a start-up organisation so they would not be able to compete with Big Pharma salaries**

Requirements:
- At least 3+ years’ experience after a masters degree (can be academic or industry)
- The tech stack for this position is relatively flexible based upon what you would be most comfortable with - but you do need to be able to take the process from conception to deployment (usually in the cloud)
- You will be tasked with debugging deployed models and continuously be on the lookout for improvements on datasets, algorithms and workflows.
It is essential that you are able to do the hands on work yourself at this point, data warehousing/data lakes/pipelines/data handling/ML algorithms/deployment.

Good extras:
- Background in food technology or bioinformatics
- Start-up experience
