Statistical Programmer - Graduate Placement: 2022-2023

We are looking for talented and enthusiastic Mathematics, Statistics or Computer Science students to join our dynamic and vibrant team in Reading for a one-year placement (August 2022 to August 2023).

Our DSSR, BIOS group in Reading is home to 40+ Statisticians and Statistical Programmers who all play a part in allowing our clients to achieve their most important goals of improving clinical, scientific, and commercial results in Healthcare; realising the full potential of innovations.

THE ROLE

We, IQVIA, have one of the largest Biostatistics departments within the industry, around 1,100+ staff and we are now seeking new brave minds to join our team for a placement year.

Successful candidates will help to analyse and report the clinical trials of the future and become a part of the next chapter in Human Data Science.

As a placement student, you will be involved in clinical trials from Phases II and III of clinical research, across a variety of therapeutic areas.

Your tasks will primarily include using the SAS® programming language for the production and validation of datasets/ summary tables/ graphs and listings of clinical trial data and writing specifications to document these.

This position requires excellent communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to work with initiative, and have the confidence to contribute effectively in a multi-disciplinary, team-based environment, working with colleagues around the globe.

Through mentorship, and a fully supportive, collaborative environment, you will begin to build your SAS® programming knowledge, teamwork, and organisational skills, which will provide you with a great foundation for your chosen future career.

Statistical Programming Overview:

  • Import data from various sources

  • Program quality control checks for source data and reporting data issues

  • Interpret project level requirements and develop programming specifications

  • Write programming code following established Good Programming Practices

  • Program SDTM and ADaM datasets

  • Program to create statistical analysis tables, listing and figures

  • Validate datasets and all statistical outputs per prescribed gate checks

  • Communicate with internal and client statisticians and clinical team members to ensure appropriate understanding of requirements and timelines

  • Use and promote the use of established standards, SOPs, and standard methodologies

You will be currently studying a BSc in Biostatistics, Statistics, Mathematics, or Computer Science, or equivalent.
