Packaging Operator
Full time hours working 6am - 2pm and 2pm - 10pm
Hourly rate plus shift allowance

Purpose:
This role has the responsibility to operate the designated manufacturing equipment and systems to produce product that meets pre-defined quality attributes and production schedules, at the Production facility in Hatfield and to ensure the efficient operation of all manufacturing operations.

General Responsibilities:
To ensure that operations conducted are performed in accordance with the requirements of Corporate Standards, Quality System, GMP and GDP Guidelines and Industry Standards.

Duties are performed to ensure:
* A safe working environment is maintained for self and other employees, ensuring all near miss incidents and accidents are reported in accordance with procedures.
* The Quality of products manufactured and released is assured through adherence to all procedures.
* Opportunities to improve operations and reduce cost are identified and progressed through the continuous improvement and demand innovation initiatives.
* All stakeholder and customer expectations are understood and met through communication.
* Performance is in line with personal and company objectives with demonstrated behaviors and competencies.

Job Specific Responsibilities:
* To set-up production equipment to ensure correct functionality and calibration compliance.
* Operation of high speed packaging line to maintain product quality and standards by carrying out effective controls and testing procedures.
* Participate in manual packaging operations.
* Participate in quality investigations and initiate deviations
* Responsible for completion of batch documentation, SAP process order confirmation and other SAP transactions required for the production activity.
* Review and update packaging documentation, including Standard Operating Procedures.
* Responsible for minimising down time to maximise productivity, by managing priorities and having effective handovers and accurate line set-ups.
* Identify and participate in continuous improvement opportunities that result in cost savings and more efficient and compliant ways of working
* Support Engineering and Contractor activities
* Assist in the effective training of others in systems/procedures/skills/techniques
* Actively promote safety awareness and improvements
* Carry out in-process tests, yield calculations, product sampling and inspection to ensure all production meets predefined quality attributes
* Dismantle, clean and reassemble equipment, ensuring it is well maintained
* Responsible for compliance to health and safety procedures in areas of responsibility
* Responsible for compliance to Good Manufacturing Practices in areas of responsibility
* Recording appropriate metrics to monitor adherence to production schedules, equipment utilisation, right first time batch records and adherence to SOP and training schedules.
* Participates in internal, customer and regulatory audits
* Liaise with all other departments to ensure business requirements are being met
* Carry out Production Facility Cleaning and Sink and Drain Disinfection.
* Prepared to take on roles of First Aider, Safety Rep and Fire Warden.
* Assist Packaging Technicians in packaging machine routine maintenance.
* Assist in various maintenance activities within Production Area

Person Specification:
* Demonstrates knowledge and experience in Pharmaceuticals
* Demonstrates knowledge and experience of all packaging lines and processes.
* Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships and communication links
* Demonstrates good organisational skills and the ability to be agile depending on the schedule demands and unforeseen changes.
* Good communication skills and correspondence with the packaging manager and other team members.
