Summarized Purpose: Directs the delivery of investigator payments through regional oversight of managers and teams to ensure the delivery of site payment activities according to contracted milestones and budgets. Interfaces with customers and resolves complex escalations. Contributes to the creation of department strategies and priorities aligned to corporate business objectives and supports planning to drive innovation and differentiation. Has regional responsibilities for line management, resourcing, utilization, and may be assigned to specific priorities such as technology, process optimization, key customers, or FSP. Creates cross-functional working relationships and collaborates with global colleagues to deliver seamless service to sites and clients. Ensures compliance with established policies, procedures, and regulations.

Essential functions:
  • Continuously monitors department progress in order to achieve annual business targets.
  • Assesses department KPIs via reports and analytics.
  • Ensures managers meet individual project targets through internal program reviews of KPIs.
  • Tracks escalations and monitors effectiveness of the escalation process, suggesting change and process improvements as needed.
  • Attends project review meetings and ensures prompt resolution of payment escalations under departmental control.
  • Oversees the development of reports for internal and external customer needs.
  • Ensures teams work cohesively across global locations.
  • Ensures adequate regional resources including holiday coverage, to enable seamless delivery of payments, including urgent payment processing and the resolution of questions/escalations.
  • Ensures routine reconciliation of all trials at predefined intervals and resolution of findings in a timely manner.
  • Ensures HCP Transparency Reporting is performed in accordance with compliance standards.
  • Manages or delegates oversight for CAPAs and audit responses.
  • Collaborates with multiple stakeholders, including finance and business development to obtain analytical reports, develop metrics and data for RFPs and bid defenses, and to resolve complex requests and escalations.
  • Mentors, motivates and develops direct reports through effective goal setting, training, performance management, and use of annual development plans.
  • Establishes a culture of high performance through visible accountability, recognition, and differentiation of high performers during annual performance reviews.
  • Conducts performance evaluations, makes decisions in hiring, promotions, and salaries; takes actions to improve underperforming personnel.
  • Contributes to departmental strategic plans that align to corporate priorities and then develops tactical plans to support those strategic objectives.
  • Supports the expansion of payment services in partnership with business stakeholders such as FSP and business development.


Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification
  • Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 10+ years [director] or 7+ year [associate director]) .
  • Experience in clinical drug development and clinical trials process within the pharmaceutical and/or CRO industry is preferred.
  • 8+ years [director] or 6+ [associate director] of management responsibility
  • Proven leadership skills

  • Extensive computer skills, particularly MS Word, Excel, Power Point
