FIRECREST is part of the ICON plc Group and produces highly visual and engaging products for the Clinical Trial Industry. FIRECREST products help improve Site performance by delivering innovative and effective training to sites while complying with Industry Standards. As an organisation responsible for the development of clinical training for medical staff, the Content and Functional Reviewer role is critical to the delivery of accurate and high quality training products to our clients.

The Role:

The Instructional Designs Manager integrally involved and drives, as part of the broader management team, the direction and implementation of the strategy for the Clinical Operations department.

The Instructional Designs Manager will perform a critical role in managing the strategic direction of the current and future FIRECREST training products to ensure that our products continue to meet the market and Sponsor needs and to identify improvements to enhance our current range of products.

As part of role, you will evaluate new product offerings from FIRECREST to ensure that they use leading-edge technologies and processes, apply current industry learning and instructional theories, and can be rolled out to Operations in an efficient and cost-effective manner.

You will also have overall responsibility for the Instructional Design team, recruiting and developing high-caliber talent to maintain FIRECREST's excellent quality standards.

Responsibilities:

  • Establish good relationships with sponsors, to understand their requirements for current and future solutions.
  • Align production processes and standards with sponsor expectations/priorities, acting in a proactive, flexible and responsive manner to customer needs.
  • Continuously review internal and external feedback, to improve and strengthen the instructional value of FIRECREST products.
  • Work with Product Owners to plan and execute product updates, product improvements and new training product offerings.
  • Continuously assess existing processes, procedures and tools to ensure that Firecrest is using industry-leading methodologies to produce the highest quality content, and is using lean processes to drive efficiencies and lower costs.
  • Help control the production cost of the Firecrest training product.
  • Provide quality oversight to Instructional Design group and complete manager functions as required, e.g., yearly performance reviews, development of team members.
  • Recruit the resources required to meet the agreed production targets, attracting high-calibre, highly-motivated talent.
  • Act as people manager to Instructional Design Team Leads.
  • Operate independently to make decisions and be self-accountable for the results delivered.


Requirements:
  • Bachelor or Master's Degree in E-Learning, Technical Communications or related field.

  • Strong proven skills in being able to constantly challenge the "current state", develop strategic relationships with key external and internal influencers in order to successfully drive the strategic direction of the training solutions
  • Skills and commercial focus to quick assess, validate and present in a concise manner the market opportunity for new potential training solutions
  • Ability to move quickly from a high-level concept down into the specific detailed actions and systems needed to plan for successful operationalisation and manage associated risks.
  • Strong analytical and business acumen skills and strong creativity skills; focused and disciplined.
  • In depth proven experience of training solutions in the pharmaceutical or related industry, specifically in the area of e-learning.
  • Prior experience at management levels working in and/or leading teams.
  • Ability to lead others in order to move internal teams towards achieving goals that support FIRECREST's key strategic accounts.
  • Strong presentation skills; experience speaking publicly and/or presenting to existing or potential clients on topics related to FIRECREST.
  • Proven ability to attract, retain, and develop talented direct reports.
  • Excellent writing and design skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience monitoring and overseeing clinical trial projects.
  • Comfortable working both internally and externally with technical and medical experts providing input into future product strategies.
