Role: Laboratory Technician (4 days on / 4 days off)

Location: Wrexham

Salary: Attractive rates

CPL Life Sciences is collaborating with a laboratory agency that offers an outstanding opportunity to the skilled candidate to join their UKs recovery efforts by providing safety support and diagnosis of infectious diseases, including COVID-19. The successful candidate will be joining this special cause as a Laboratory Technician contributing to the testing process of rapid, on-site, government certified test results for the benefit of public health.

Key Responsibilities:

Assisting with technical duties and Covid-19 screening services.

Performing techniques and methods such as Nucleic Extraction, PCR Amplification, 5-Exonuclease assays and RT-LAMP.

Performing quality control and reporting any complications, incorrect results and errors to BMS staff for investigation.

Monitoring and maintaining laboratory equipment as well as stock levels on daily basis.

Reporting any troubleshooting/ malfunctions to the Hub Scientist.

Maintaining laboratory records according to COSHH and HSE requirements.

Ensuring a safe and clean environment according to approved standards of hygiene, health and safety protocol.

Participating in training of new Biomedical Assistants and Associate Practitioners.

Supervising Biomedical Assistants and less experienced staff, allocating work, training, and any other additional actions required.

Requirements:

Minimum of Level 5 Qualification/ Foundation degree in Biomedical Science or BSc (Hons) degree in a relevant discipline.

Laboratory experience covering duties such as Nucleic extraction, PCR amplification, 5-Exonuclease assays, (RT-) LAMP, pipetting.

Previous experience with RNA extraction studies and Biosafety Cabinets.

Knowledge of pathology tests and medical terminology.

Experience working in a Clinical Microbiology Laboratory.

Full driving license.
