Associate Director, Scientific Communications - Pharma

Role Purpose
The Associate Director, Scientific Communications will be responsible to define and ensure execution of the Scientific Communication Strategy for a dedicated therapeutic area which includes the scientific narrative and related scientific messages, publications and communication plan across the lifecycle of the product in alignment with key internal functions including R&D and as part of the Medical Plan. This position has dotted line reporting to the Medical Affairs Therapeutic Area head.
Responsibilities
- Craft and develop a TA-specific Scientific communications strategy in close collaboration with Medical Affairs Therapeutic Area head. This includes but is not limited to scientific communications package and publication strategy, which are well aligned with the Medical Affairs Strategy
- Cross-functional publication plan to align on the timely and appropriate dissemination of evidence generated in R&D or through real-world data generation, taking also into account regional and local needs/publications initiatives
- Strategic oversight of the creation of scientific materials and scientific statements
- Organise and streamline the execution of the communications plan including e.g. scientific guidance for symposia across the cross-functional TA team.
- Compliance with internal SOPs, external publication guidelines, and medical education guidelines
- Building and managing relationships with external vendors, key external experts, and partners.
- High quality and consistent scientific communications deliverables through shared best practices, standardisation of processes and systems, and judicious resource allocation
Qualifications
- Advanced scientific degree (e.g. MD, PharmD, PhD) required
- At least 10 years of experience, of which a minimum of 5 in the pharmaceutical industry, in scientific communications
- Preferably with relevant therapeutic area expertise
- Experience with launches is a plus
