The Opportunity
We are seeking an FCC (Flu Cell Culture) Engineering Stream Lead to join our growing project Banksia team for the construction of our state-of-the-art Influenza cell-culture (FCC) manufacturing facility in Tullamarine (Victoria, Australia). Expected to be completed in 2026, this facility will be the only cell-based influenza vaccine manufacturing facility in the Southern Hemisphere and will also produce unique products important to Australia's public health needs such as snake and spider antivenoms.
The Role
Based mainly at Tullamarine, this role is responsible for the overall direction and support for management of capital projects, specifically related to the design and execution of the FCC capital engineering building and processes within the Banksia Project. Specifically, this role will be responsible for:
  • Leading and deliveringthe project objectives, controlling scope changes to meet budget and schedule, functionality according to the process URS and Equipment TRSs, GMP, safety and environmental requirements during all phases of the project (Design, Procurement, Construction, Commissioning and Qualification);
  • All aspects of equipment design for the FCC process:
  • Process Design Qualification
  • Process Equipment procurement
  • Process Equipment FATs
  • Off-site Fabrication and On-site installation of process equipment and pipework
  • FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing)
  • SAT (Site Acceptance Testing)
  • Commissioning of the FCC process
  • Qualification of the FCC process
  • Driving value engineering initiatives and maintaining strategic engagement across multiple local and global business groups.
  • The role will report into the Design and Construction Lead for the Banksia project
To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:
  • A degree in a relevant Engineering field;
  • Excellent understanding of the process and engineering systems within the Pharmaceutical Industry;
  • Experience in project management with the ability to lead and deliver a project of significant global and business importance;
  • A demonstrated ability to lead and work closely with multiple project teams and project managers to deliver large and highly complex projects;
  • Financial experience with high level budgetary responsibilities;
  • Automation and in particular PCS7 experience is advantageous;
  • Extensive understanding of quality, risk and contract management processes and procedures;
  • Well-developed regulatory and compliance code understanding in respect to the manufacturing/production and engineering environment;
  • Ability to understand "the big picture" and approach problem solving in a proactive consultative manner;
  • Strong communication skills and consultative approach in working withkey stakeholders to achieve the required commercial outcomes;
  • Excellent IT skills including typical accounting systems, SAP preferred;
