Directs and oversees indirect sourcing categories for staff in the EU and Asia Pac. Indirect categories include travel, HR, IT, professional services and facilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develops and communicates a procurement business plan for indirect categories such as facilities, travel, IR, professional services and HR.
  • Establishes, communicates and implements long-term goals for the department in order to promote effectiveness and efficiency
  • Supports business units with contract negotiations
  • Oversees contract development and administration
  • Serves as the primary contact for procurement related questions, training, policy and procedure interpretation and ensure alignment by all departments
  • Develops, effectively communicates and executes procurement team performance, development plans and performance reviews
  • Creates, implements and leads strategic indirect purchasing initiatives
  • Builds and develops mutually beneficial relationships with suppliers to obtain the best pricing, service, selection and contract terms
  • Manages suppliers and drives cost reductions using a total cost of ownership (TCO) model
  • Monitors suppliers' performance, ensures service level agreements (SLAs) and key performance indicators (KPIs) are met and drives improvement
  • Develops cost models and industry analysis to determine what cost of services and/or goods are compared to supplier quotation
  • Conducts supplier competitive bidding using RFP's, e-sourcing tools and pricing negotiations
  • Tracks and understands category spend to make knowledge-based decisions, using key data points
  • Monitors trends in the indirect categories and implements plans to proactively respond to potential opportunities
  • Supports and leads Procurement team in achieving procurement and contractual objectives
  • Champions annual productivity improvements by leading internal partners and suppliers in joint discussions on cost reduction opportunities
  • Works closely with Accounts Payable to ensure timely payments and proper accounting/purchasing acumen (i.e. closing PO's and requisitions, etc.)

People Responsibilities:
  • Coach and mentor the employees of the department and conducts the employee performance reviews and sets developmental objectives with employee feedback
  • Where applicable, conduct employee performance reviews and set developmental objectives
  • Assures accurate and timely completion of work in the area particularly for order management and supply chain reviews etc.
  • Provide leadership and work-related training and maintaining appropriate levels of departmental coverage.
  • Directs special projects related directly or indirectly to specific areas of responsibility.

  • Partner with Global and US based Category Leaders and Directors to support regional initiatives by

  • Effective communication with other departments
  • Resource allocation to meet unexpected customer requirements

  • Team roles are defined by job descriptions
  • Deliver on-going Process Improvement that benefit Labcorp
  • Undertake system enhancements coordinating with IT and external vendors
  • Provides troubleshooting and assistance (both oral and written) to customers or investigators as required.
  • Provides direction, leadership and approval for areas under direct supervision.
  • Ensure all service failures are identified and resolved.
  • Proactively manage and drive resolution of customer issues with and across departments, International locations and other Covance business units.
  • Undertake specific projects as required
  • Other duties as assigned by senior management.
Education/Qualifications:
Preferred
  • A related advanced degree.
  • C.P.M. or ASAP Certification.
  • At least ten (10) years of customer service experience preferred


Experience:
Experience
  • The position requires strong, precise, analytical skills and demonstrated organizational and planning skills.
  • Strong inter-personal skills including effective Constructive Confrontation
  • Minimum of a four (4) year degree in IT, Business, or the Life Sciences.
  • Ten (10) years of sourcing and procurement experience preferably across several indirect categories.
