As one of the PD Data and statistical Sciences (PDD) TA Franchise Leaders you will be responsible for DSS activities in support of a Roche Therapeutic Areas (TA).   In this role you will be responsible for the strategic direction, prioritization and cross functional collaboration to ensure the overall success of the franchise.  Together with our PPLs you will ensure decisions related to processes and resourcing drive the quality and efficiency for PDD therapeutic products. You will liaise with other TA franchise leaders or heads from other PD functions to represent DSS and contribute strategically to the overall success of the franchise. You are responsible for ensuring senior reviews and will be a member of scientific advice meetings in the franchise. You will contribute to the strategy and the overall success of PDD as well as be a member of the DSS TA Community of Leaders.  In this role you will be recognized for your depth of expertise in support of the TA franchise.  

DSS Franchise Lead models the PDD Shared Leadership Accountabilities:

The franchise lead will support talent development: Actively develops and champions DSS talent, both within and beyond PDD. Serves as a role model in demonstrating Roche's Leadership Commitments and the Pharma Operating Principles. Embraces and role models agile leadership behaviors. Works with PPLs across PDD to ensure resourcing and continued development of the DSS talent pipeline through work on PDD products and via ongoing training, mentoring and coaching.

The franchise lead will demonstrate high levels of entrepreneurism and autonomy, building strong networks throughout PD, GPS, gRED, and pRED as well as externally, and using these to spot trends and identify challenges/opportunities for advancing the Roche portfolio.  In this role you will use expertise and leadership skills to deliver value to the business.  

The Franchise lead will contribute to the performance and direction of the DSS Function.

Key Accountabilities 
  • Work closely with the Data Science teams,  PPLs and DSS Pod leader to ensure franchise resource demands and timelines are met, optimally balance prioritization across all franchise units
  • Participate in scientific advice meetings in the franchise
  • Partner with other key leaders from other PD/pRED/gRED/GPS functions in the franchise and Ensure clear points of contact for Franchise stakeholders within and across PODS
  • Be accountable for the PDD technical aspects of the TA 
  • Provide statistical, scientific and strategic inputs in clinical development planning, innovative study designs, and development of tools using advanced analytics 
  • Delegate or serve as a PDD expert reviewer for regulatory documents  
  • Provide leadership to DSS to ensure strategic priorities are met in the franchise
  • Builds and nurtures collaborative networks within Pharma, REDs, and externally.  Uses these networks to spot trends and identify/address important challenges and opportunities.
  • Partners with DSS EP leaders for alignment of TA community across PDD 
  • Fosters shared sense of purpose (eg. grow PDD understanding of the TA)
  • Partners with leadership teams or functional leaders for strategic functional alignment.  Contributes to the direction of the franchise team providing insights on technical/strategic capabilities, and influencing key internal partners and the external environment,
  • Ensure sharing of knowledge for Franchise related processes, operating models and expectations across the community
  • Identify opportunities for optimization across the Franchise, aiming for harmonized processes across the organization
  • Wherever possible partner with relevant DSS Leaders to drive experiments and innovation


Key qualifications
  • MS or PhD in statistics, mathematics, data science or related field
  • Extensive experience in drug development of at least 10 years
  • Excellent communications skills
  • Track record of introducing innovative methods and solutions
  • Strong team focused mindset and experience in leading cross-functional teams
  • Expertise in collaborations across industry and health authorities 
  • Extensive experience in Neuroscience and MS is an advantage
