Role Summary:

You will provide a high level medical expertise in various areas of medicine in the capacity of pharmaceutical physician. You will oversee the overall medical function at operational level for all relevant departments. You will represent Medical function up to board level in supporting strategic and business decisions. You will act as the company medical signatory, support Drug Safety and the QPPV in medical aspects of pharmacovigilance and provide medical input to Regulatory Team documents. You will provide all operational and advisory activities relating to the provision of Medical function to service customers and the information need of the company. We expect you to have a proven ability in safety evaluation activities and outstanding medical writing skill. We also expect you to be able to influence at all levels the organization using your experience, confidence and credibility.

Responsibilities:

  • To act as the company drug safety physician on all matters relating to pharmacovigilance and supporting the company’s Qualified Person for Pharmacovigilance (QPPV) to ensure compliance with current legislation
  • To support the regulatory team in all matters requiring medical input in obtaining and maintaining marketing authorisations (e.g. applications, variations, etc.)
  • To support product development, review and approve Clinical Development related documents and provide medical input into product development teams
  • Developing and maintaining relationships across the business externally with KOLs and support the development of promotional materials with the Marketing team ensuring compliance with relevant external guidelines/legislations
  • Provide advice on medical information enquiries received by the company and support the Pharmacovigilance and Regulatory team
  • Provide ad hoc medical advice on a Company wide basis (e.g. support Exports)
  • Provide expert medical opinion and statement within the organisation (e.g. Quality) or externally (e.g. regulators such as MHRA, EMA)

Basic Qualification and Skills:

  • Medical degree with GMC registration, ideally with MFPM/DPM
  • Previous experience as an industry pharmaceutical physician, with experience in drug safety
  • Expert knowledge of current pharmacovigilance regulations and methodologies applicable to safety evaluation and risk management activities
  • Experience and expertise in causality assessment, evaluation of adverse drug reactions and safety signals
  • Experience in evaluating clinical trial protocols and trial reports; clear understanding of the clinical development process, with particular emphasis on generic medicines development; GCP requirements of medicines development
  • Sound knowledge of related disciplines, such as statistics, epidemiology, pharmacology
  • Previous experience in preparing medical expert reports
  • Outstanding medical writing skills
