We have a new position based in our Legal Contracts Team in the UK. This role can be office based (Cambridge, Glasgow or Winchester) or fully home based anywhere in the UK. It is a permanent full-time position.

About the Position:
The Contract Specialist drafts, reviews and negotiates agreements with third parties on PPD's behalf and within established PPD parameters using, in most instances, established MSA templates or PPD templates ("Standard Agreements"). He/she serves as the primary contact within the department and with internal customers from other departments for Standard Agreements assigned to their group, working under the direct supervision of a company attorney

Job Description:
  • Prepares, negotiates and finalizes Standard Agreements and/or other related documentation.
  • Assesses legal risks and occasionally provides recommendations and alternative mitigating resolutions to departmental management.
  • Makes recommendations to other functional groups within PPD upon request.
  • Identifies best practices and assists with the implementation of process improvement opportunities as necessary.
  • Understands and adheres to SOPs, WPDs and other regulations for all aspects of project implementation, execution and closeout.
  • Assists in other legal matters as required.




Education and Experience:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent and relevant formal academic / vocational qualification

Previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 0 to 2 years') or equivalent combination of education, training, & experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Fundamental communication and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational skills and excellent attention to detail with proven ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently and effectively
  • Must be flexible and able to reprioritize workload to meet changing project needs
  • Strong MS Excel and MS Word skills
  • Excellent English and grammar skills
  • Basic analytical and decision based thinking
  • Capable, with oversight, of drafting and negotiating contract provisions
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team player
  • Ability to apply knowledge of and adhere to all PPD and Client SOPs, WPDs and other regulations in all aspects of project implementation, execution and closeout
