Principals are expected to be thought leaders, with extremely effective communication skills, a solid hands-on work ethic, and a deep knowledge of the broad industry and client trends. Principles often lead project teams and work autonomously as a client relationship lead, proactively promoting and identifying potential business development initiatives. Principles also must ensure that the highest bar is set when it comes to client work delivery- complex analysis must be completed consistently and effectively. Directors are also expected to apply an array of insights, frameworks, and potential approaches to do great work for our clients. Responsibilities and Requirements: Provide project, account, and firm-wide leadership, and ensure that consistently delivers the most exceptional client service, with an ability to inspire a shared vision and motivate change. This entails:

 

 

 

Serve as a highly effective leader; working effectively with senior management, and motivating self and others to deliver exceptional results;

Manage project teams and assume top-line accountability for client satisfaction. Work with Managing Directors to manage client concerns and needs, and to ensure good staffing decisions are made;

Assume top-level accountability for the success of, and its internal growth and firm development;

Help to define project scope and approach, working closely with Managers, other Principles and Managing Directors to ensure client expectations are realistic at the outset, and that they are exceeded upon completion of the project;

Demonstrate exemplary senior-level client-facing skills and develop management and leadership skills, with the ability to successfully navigate extremely complex projects;

Demonstrates an interest in the success of;

  • Successfully develops and mentors project team members providing informal feedback and timely and constructive formal feedback;
  • Acts as an effective mentor and manager;
  • Proactively participates in recruiting initiatives;
  • Tracks progress and cost against plans, and ensures overall staff profitability;
  • Effectively contributes to the capture and dissemination of best practices from ‘the field’;
  • Understands how the firm is managed, including T&E submissions, receivables management, and staff scheduling;
  • Ensure Managers and Associates are working in a rewarding environment, where work-life balance is heavily considered, successes are rewarded, and performance issues are quickly escalated/ managed;
  • Provide thought leadership and innovation within projects and practice areas;
  • Travel to wherever your skills are most needed; while we make every effort to minimize travel, the hands-on nature of our work may require 50%-80% travel. Qualifications and Competencies A deep history of prior management consulting experience in the biotechnology and pharmaceutical arena is required. MBAs are preferred with bachelor's (and often graduate) degrees in engineering and/ or life sciences. We also place a very high value on candidates with some prior industry operating roles, e.g. strong records in the biopharmaceutical industry or extremely rich operating experience. Candidates also must demonstrate:
  • A Strong leadership presence, with an ability to be seen as a recognized thought leader both within the firm and with our clients;
  • An ability to appropriately address and handle challenging people;
  • Leadership and mentorship for other consultants, including high quality written and verbal feedback;
  • Strength in motivating self and others to always deliver strong results;
  • Ability to envision analysis required to achieve objectives and gain buy-in from the client;
  • An understanding of the different behaviors and reactions of client employees during times of change;
  • Ability to maintain executive relationships;
  • Strength in building and maintaining relationships at the executive level;
  • Ability to develop long-term retention strategies;
  • Ability to manage difficult situations with confidence and consideration of other perspectives;
  • An awareness and fluency in the key business and economic drivers that can influence an organization;
  • A demonstration of repeatable success in business development and sales;
  • Interest in building a high-growth consulting practice from the early stages, including its culture, goals, and values.
