About the Role:

Reporting to the Global Head of Emerging Business Lines(s), the Strategy Analyst will support the development and implementation of the strategy for Abcam's emerging business lines.

The role will sit within the Portfolio and Business Development group and collaborate closely with different functions (e.g., Corporate Development, Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, R&D) and will support with defining, executing and tracking market entry strategies. This is expected to include: new research, development and launch; revenue optimisation (sales channel, marketing mix); market entry, M&A, partnerships and licensing.

Projects will have significant exposure to the executive team and board and you will interact daily with cross functional experts with backgrounds in top life science companies and professional service organisations.

Roles & responsibilities:
  • Responsible for Materials planning for several product categories, determining quantity and timing of production batches, optimizing standard trigger points and replenishment quantities to ensure that service level targets (Delivery on Promise, OTIF, Order Average Lead Time, Fill rate) are hit for manufactured product ranges at an acceptable cost
  • Work with the Manufacturing team to support capacity planning
  • Contribute to the company Sales and Operations Planning process
  • Become a Superuser for Abcam's ERP implementation, covering supply chain planning for the UK site
  • Ensure that Inventory levels are optimised across raw materials and finished goods, and work with other stakeholders to optimise stock levels.
  • Work within the established production budget, ensure that the order backlog is kept to a minimum and that production of new and already established products is balanced appropriately
  • Ensure communication of stock replenishment dates to customer facing teams; handle exceptions where stock does not arrive on time or to specification
  • Work with customer facing teams to ensure that forecasting and demand management is optimised
  • Contribute to continuous Improvement activities using lean/Six sigma methodologies

About you

Our ideal candidate will have consulting experience with a top tier consulting firm or have gained 3+ years' experience in the life sciences industry in relevant areas such as Strategy, Marketing and Commercial. Your experience will ensure you have deep knowledge in life sciences industry and value chain (e.g., pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, medical devices, healthcare IT). Knowledge or experience in Antibody/Protein Engineering, Synthetic Biology, Biomarkers / Diagnostics, Gene Editing Field, and / or CRISPR-related applications would be beneficial but not essential.

You will be self-motivated and detail-orientated team player and have the ability to multi-task gained from extensive experience in project and program management. You will have distinctive analytical skills (quantitative and qualitative) and excellent communication skills.

You will have an undergraduate degree (or equivalent) in a scientific subject and ideally a postgraduate science degree e.g., PHD/MD/MSc in a scientific subject).
