We are now looking for a Planning Lead to join our Global External Sourcing (GES) team.

Business area

GES is accountable for sourcing and supply of externally manufactured products into the AstraZeneca network. We support AstraZeneca's Operations strategy by establishing supply chains and running 200 suppliers across 40 countries.

Our teams are based in UK, US and Sweden, and we have a strong focus on cross functional collaboration.

What you'll do

If you enjoy working on a complex variety of activities, then this is the place for you. Try your hand at data collection and analysis, supply chain strategies, forecasting orders to meet demands and optimising operational resources.

As part of the global GES team, Planning Leads are responsible for allocating trained resource to support supply to existing and new customers, whilst leading allocated projects or initiatives.

Key tasks include

  • Line management of a team including performance management, mentor and support

  • Ensure that the team has the capability and flexibility to support the business

  • Maintain, develop and apply planning processes to support resource demand across the GES function

  • Act as a demand interface between planning and Establish New Supply to Customer and/or external teams

  • Build a lean culture of collaboration, continuous improvement and high performance

  • Active contribution to the development of GES Planning Function direction and delivery of team projects and plans

Essential skills

  • Significant supply chain understanding and knowledge

  • Broad understanding of API, formulated product and finished pack supply chains and manufacturing

  • Experience in leading cross functional and cross-cultural teams

  • Line management experience with a track record of mentoring and developing people

  • Experience of handling complexity and high levels of change

  • Compliance awareness (SOX, Quality, Product security, etc).

Desirable skills
  • Degree or equivalent in Business, Logistics, Sciences or Engineering is preferred, equivalent experience will be taken in to account

  • Experience in participating in the S&OP/ Global Supply Team process

  • Commercial experience is a plus

  • SAP ERP (MRP) knowledge

  • Proficient in using key Lean Tools: VSM, PPS

  • Advanced capacity and inventory planning skills!
