About You
Vifor Pharma is seeking applications for an experienced Medical Director within global medical affairs for the Nephrology business unit. In this highly visible and strategic role you will be responsible for the medical affairs strategy for a key asset currently in development, working closely with a partner and senior management at Vifor.

You will have significant experience within medical affairs as a thought leader within Nephrology and have strong launch experience within Nephrology. Excellent internal and external stakeholder management will be required in order to ensure a successful launch for a product with multiple potential indications in the long term.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the overall brand/ Nephrology therapy area strategy
  • Ensure development of Medical strategy for brand/ TA and compliant execution of key Medical tactics, including:
    • Providing in depth medical/scientific insights into the relevant disease areas
    • Development of Medical strategic imperatives and key tactics as part of cross-functional global brand/TA plan
    • Development and execution of the medical and scientific communication plan Medical Communication and Publication Plan
    • Development and review of educational programs and training materials for internal and external use
    • Development, review and approval of medical and scientific materials and programs, such as scientific symposia and advisory boards, educational tools, review and approval of marketing materials
    • Identifying, developing and maintaining effective engagement with external stakeholder (clinical and non-clinical) and professional organisations in close collaboration with regional and local medical teams
    • Contributing to clinical development activities and leading post-approval data generation, including company and investigator driven studies


  • Review and approval of medical and cross-functional materials, HCP and HCO engagements and Medical Information documents (e.g. GKIDs)
  • Provide Medical Affairs leadership
  • Lead Medical Affairs team for Nephrology asset


Experience Requirements

  • Medical Education (MD)
  • Medical specialization and/ or clinical / research experience in Internal Medicine, Nephrology or Cardiology
  • Minimum 6-10 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry
  • Experience with clinical study management and conduct
  • Experience with regulatory, safety and legal implications of Medical Affairs activities
  • Experience in Medical Affairs and/or Clinical Development
  • Experience with of successful drug product launches (mandatory for pre-launch brand)
  • Highly networked in therapeutic area(s) relevant for the brand
  • Regional Medical TA responsibility
  • Track record of scientific and medical publications
  • Experience of working with commercial teams
  • Experience managing cross-functional projects and teams
  • Fluent English both written and oral
