Job Details
Medical Affairs Manager
Reporting to the Medical Director and based in the UK, the Medical Affairs Manager will provide operational management and leadership to a Medical Affairs team of 6. The Medical Affairs Manager shall also provide input into the business, jointly agreeing, developing and implementing strategic direction for both the key-marketed products and assets within the clinical development programme.
The post holder will work closely with the commercial and medical colleagues, acting as the point of contact for management and strategy of the medical affairs team. This is a highly interactive role.
People:
- Leads develops and manages the Medical Affairs Team, including the setting of objectives, review of progress, performance and coaching
- Selects, recruits and retains high calibre staff
- Develops, implements and monitors Individual Development and Training Plans to build skills and capabilities
- Ensures Medical Affairs team is aligned with Region Europe and Global objectives and that every member of the team builds relationships with Region Europe and Global colleagues for BU benefit
Brand:
- Ensures that the team provides accurate and non-promotional information relating to unlicensed products and indications following customer requests
- Ensures the team works closely with the Market Access team to provide appropriate support for formulary and guidelines inclusions
- Facilitates the gathering of advice and insight from healthcare professionals on all necessary aspects of clinical development via 1 to 1 meetings, advisory boards and other forums
- Act as Medical Final Signatory (where appropriate), providing review and copy approval of all materials, to ensure compliance with the respective Codes of Practice and all other applicable requirements
Customers:
- Ensures that the team develops long-term professional relationships with Key Opinion Leaders to develop advocacy for Otsuka molecules
- Ensures the team meets or exceeds the local regulations in all activities particularly with regard to interactions with healthcare professionals and patients
- Ensure that prevailing legislation, GCP, Ethical Committee, and SOP and local Otsuka requirements, and the appropriate Codes of Practice requirements are fulfilled
Requirements:
- GMC Medical Doctor, GPhC reg pharmacist, PhD-level scientist
- > 5 years’ experience in medical affairs
- Strong leadership skills with previous direct management experience
- Ability to develop business plans, manage budgets, allocate financial resources
- 10-20% travel
- Experience in CNS/Nephrology/Oncology
