As a Regional Freight Manager, you will be responsible for supporting the compliant, effective and efficient transportation of all freight moving within the region and internationally out of the region. Take responsibility for the day-to-day logistics support to all the Operations business units within the region as well as the worldwide receiving locations.
What you'll do
As part of this role you will identify opportunities for improvements and be responsible for driving continuous improvement activity. You will implement global and regional network solutions and lead above-site solutions on an ongoing basis.
Monitoring key performance indicator trends and driving improvements identified by the trends is key, integrating with regional logistics organisations and manufacturing sites to optimise the overall AstraZeneca distribution network.
You will be responsible for building the annual budget through working across multiple sites to gain volumes and insight.
You will also execute transportation guidelines within the region and be responsible for handling all Supply & Logistics complaints raised within the region, driving the resolution of any issues.
You will manage any carrier claims and ensure that carriers are meeting their contractual obligations and servicing our customers as agreed.
Managing the tactical and regional relationships with carriers and suppliers, you will contribute to regional business reviews and ensure that all required documentation is updated, ensuring that day to day transportation operations deliver the desired cost-effective level of customer services.
In addition, you will monitor the transportation costs for Primary freight and validate any changes reported through AstraZeneca's 3rd party freight payment services, also ensuring that freight billing is accurate.
What you'll need
Degree educated (Preferably in Management, Transport and Logistics) - equivalent experience will be considered
Knowledge of Pharmaceutical production supply chain principles, Good Manufacturing Practice, Food and Drug Administration requirements (or equivalent), Customs rules and regulations
Experience in working with cross functional teams and outside service partners (as appropriate)
Excellent interpersonal and analytical skills
Logistics experience as well as in the distribution of products from a multi plant / multi distribution centre environment.
Experience with temperature-controlled transportation
Experience of Good Distribution Practices
Professional qualification in Logistics or a member of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transportation
Knowledge of material planning & execution systems
Understanding of supplier management practices
