The PV Head is a global role providing strategic PS input for a therapy area and oversight of a family of drug development and post-marketing programs across the life-cycle. This includes target product profiles, patient populations, scientific understanding of toxicity-related mechanisms, submission oversight and risk management commitments and communication.

The PV Head recruits and leads a global team of senior safety physicians and scientists, in order to support major PS programs and key initiatives including drive staff development. The role also strategizes and leads AstraZeneca's response to sophisticated technical issues for specific safety aspects in relation to current projects, new projects and various plans, as well as leads strategic initiatives advancing the scientific methodology in clinical drug safety and pharmacovigilance.

Required Skills:

  • Medical/clinical/scientific postgraduate training
  • PhD in scientific subject area
  • Experience in providing strategic leadership to complex drug projects
  • 10 plus years of relevant proven experience
  • 5 plus years of Clinical Drug Safety / Pharmacovigilance experience
  • Experience in leading a scientific team
  • Demonstrated ability to influence key partners within and outside of company
  • Demonstrated proficiency with both written and verbal communications

Desired Skills:

  • Medical degree
  • Extensive general medical knowledge
  • Able to work across diverse therapeutic areas and functions
  • Research background including peer reviewed publications

This role can sit at our Gothenburg, Sweden; Gaithersburg, MD; or Waltham, MA location
