Medical Affairs Partner - Ophthalmology - UK

As a Medical Affairs Partner, you will be expected to work hand in hand with external partners and internal teams, being obsessed with what they need to deliver exceptional patient care and acting boldly with them to transform science and ultimately patient lives by accelerating "better outcomes for more patients faster".

The Medical Affairs Partner is responsible for:

  • Developing and cultivating strategic relationships with therapeutic area experts and other healthcare influencers.
  • Contribution of scientific and clinical expertise & delivery of projects across strategically aligned therapy area(s), key medical affairs capabilities and partnerships with healthcare professionals and patients' organisations.
  • Translating insights into strategic actionable recommendations for varied stakeholder groups
  • Advising on strategic planning and prioritisation of medicines
  • Working collaboratively in cross-functional teams across several assets both on a local and global level
  • Building up deep therapy area knowledge
  • Building comprehensive expertise of Medical Affairs techniques and technologies
  • Providing strategic medical review (and Certification if qualified) for materials and communications

Individual should:

  • Be able to demonstrate substantial experience and knowledge in ophthalmology (from the medical devices and/or pharmaceutical industry) with a proven track record of therapeutic expert engagement in the UK.
  • Have significant experience of internal and external engagement, with a focus on ophthalmology, to inform and drive best in class strategic plans.
  • Act as a coach and mentor, who supports team working and actively contributes to the learning & development of peers across strategically aligned therapy areas (Ophthalmology), key medical affairs capabilities and engagement with healthcare professionals and patient groups.
  • Be able to operate within a compliance-led regulatory environment.
  • Be capable of solving complex issues that impact the Medical Affairs group and wider business and delivering on strategically aligned therapy area priorities where excellent Medical Affairs capabilities are required.
  • Ideally have broad and comprehensive expertise of theories, techniques and technologies within functional Medical Affairs.

Preferably you will have significant Medical Affairs or NHS experience and, ideally, be medically or pharmaceutically qualified and GMC/GPhC registered.
