Place in the Organization
You will be responsible for the daily management and development of Research lab facilities. You will ensure and improve operational efficiency for the lab personnel by supporting the laboratory operations and partnering with facilities and other departments.

Key result areas (major duties, accountabilities and responsibilities)
  • Educates and/or supports technical and scientific group members of the Research department with their daily lab-related activities.
  • Functions as a point of contact for the wider organization regarding Research laboratory related issues.
  • Developing and maintaining strong collaborations with support functions including Development, Facility, Procurement, SHE, Quality Assurance and IT
  • Ability to identify new areas for development out of experience and expertise and bring forward a proposal/plan.
  • Manage and initiates contacts with service providers and or technical providers
  • Co-ordination and consultation with key stakeholders (technicians, scientists, and (functional) project leaders) responsible for the work conducted within the laboratories
  • Prepares reports for company use with little supervision. Can initiate and write SOPs
  • Cost allocation of laboratory supplies and internally/externally performed analyses to the Research cost center
  • Ensuring compliance with internal and external regulations for all activities performed in the Research labs including Environment Health and Safety (biosafety, Genetically Modified Organism, chemical, ergonomics and Personal Protective Equipment) and Good Laboratory Practices
  • Ensuring current and up-to-date regulations, procedures and manuals in the appropriate systems (document management system, SharePoint).

Qualifications & Skills
  • Secondary vocational or higher professional laboratory education (Middelbaar or Hoger laboratoriumonderwijs: MLO/HLO)
  • Proven lab management skills with a minimum of 5 years of experience
  • Hands-on technical experience within the field of molecular biology
  • Experience with Microbiological Safety Level II restrictions
  • Hands-on experience in writing and reviewing lab-related documents (standard operation procedures, lab reports, regulatory documents)
  • Very good written and verbal language skills in English (Dutch a plus)
  • Ability to explain complex technical issues, question, and answers in writing and orally to persons not familiar with the subject
