The Macclesfield site is our second largest manufacturing site and the largest UK based campus, from which our medicines are manufacture, packaged and distributed to over 130 countries globally.

UK Operations Sourcing and Supply business area has a large portfolio of products that are planned, packaged and distributed to over 100 countries around the globe.

The Planning Manager role will manage a team made up of Supply Planning Professionals &/or Material Coordination Experts.

Responsibilities:

The objective of this role is to provide leadership to a team of Planning Professionals and assist the Planning teams to identify optimum planning sequences and scenarios to ensure customers are supplied with product in a cost and time effective manner.

The incumbent will be accountable for the creation of the production plans within a 12 week fixed horizon, aligning customer demand with production capacity whilst ensuring on-time availability of necessary packaging components.

Planning methods range from New Product Introductions, VMI, CMI, Make to Order and Tender orders.

As the Planning Manager, you will deliver outstanding customer service and hold the business area accountable for Schedule Adherence performance and customer stock availability.

Key to your success in the role will be your ability to manage multiple relationships across different business areas. As a central point of contact for your business area, you will develop collaborative relationships with all key business partners, to ensure the smooth flow of information, materials and manufacturing plans, allowing the assets to focus on manufacture as efficiently and effectively as possible.

The role drives a culture of compliance within the team, applying lean methodology and root cause analysis to fully understand compliance failures and the implementation of steps to prevent recurrence. In addition the role will drive pro-active continuous improvement within the team and associated processes.

The role holder will represent the Site at Global/Regional Network forums, and ensure that the Planning Team are fulfilling the expectations of Global Supply Chain as well as contributing pro-active improvements / ways of working / and the development of processes that other sites may benefit from.

The role holder will be responsible for delivering the Team Scorecard, and ensure sufficient focus on key deliverables such as stock write-off, Order Conversion and Order Due Date performance and Quality targets. Other performance indicators include supply and material performance, while implementing changes across the team and Logistics interface.

Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in a Supply Chain Environment (Manufacturing, Planning).

  • Advanced Supply Chain Planning skills

  • People management experience

  • In depth working knowledge of SAP and more specifically APO / SNP

  • Experience in working with the key interfaces within a global end to end supply chain, with manufacturing and between supply chain and commercial functions

  • Strong influencing skills across all levels of the organisation

  • High level of customer focus

Desirable Skills

  • Understanding of Pharmaceutical GMP principles

  • Experience of working in a lean environment, and knowledge of lean principles and tools
