Job Purpose;


  • Preparing study and laboratory documentation (forms, logs etc) as required.
  • Supervising urine and faecal collections, measure/ weigh urine collection volumes/weights, weigh faecal collections.
  • Collect, process and label (where appropriate) urine, breath alcohol and other specimens (which may include simple laboratory procedures such as centrifugation and pipetting).
  • Perform simple diagnostic laboratory tests( for example pregnancy tests, urinalysis, drugs of abuse tests)
  • Complete CRFs, laboratory records and capture other data as required.
  • Collate CRFs, laboratory and other results and perform quality control checks to ensure they are complete and ready for review and approval by Research Physicians.
  • Use centrifuges safely to process serum and plasma samples in a timely fashion according to protocol requirements.
  • Transfer accurately serum and plasma from collection tubes to storage tubes and store appropriately.
  • Prepare and pack samples and specimens to the sponsors's and reference laboratories.
  • Order and liaise with couriers to arrange transportation of samples.
  • Assist with daily monitoring of fridge and freezer temperatures.
  • Calibration and maintenance of equipment.
  • Maintain a positive, results orientated work environment, building partnerships and modeling teamwork, communicating to the team in an open, balanced and objective manner.
  • Participate in formal staff review processes e.g. performance and salary reviews to corporate standards and timescales.

    Skills
  • Practical and dextrous.
  • Computer literate.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Client focused approach to work.
  • A flexible attitude with respect to work assignments and new learning.
  • Ability to manage multiple and varied tasks with enthusiasm and prioritize workload with attention to detail.
  • Willingness to work in a matrix environment and to value the importance of teamwork.

  • Education
  • HND or Degree.

  • Language Skills
  • Excellent oral and written English communication skills.

  • Minimum Work Experience
  • One year as industrial trainee or similar in a Pharmaceutical or research related field or applicable clinical experience advantageous but not essential as full training provided.
