Job responsibilities
• Leads aspects of the development, enhancement and documentation of the Company's privacy program.
• Contributes to the team's efforts to monitor data privacy laws and regulations.
• Contributes to the development and operational implementation of a periodic privacy risk assessment and management process, including the development of an action plan based on the results of the risk assessment; may own aspects of issue and risk mitigation.
• Leads aspects of awareness and training materials development to ensure that impacted individuals within the organization are appropriately familiar with applicable privacy requirements.
• Creates or oversees development of artifacts to demonstrate that the Company's compliance with applicable data protection laws, including working with the business to facilitate data maps and overseeing the creation of records of processing.
• Coordinates privacy due diligence workflow and documentation. Facilitates data gathering associated with initial and periodic privacy assessments in conjunction with third-party vendor risk assessments and data protection criticality and impact assessments; makes recommendations and presents conclusions, and maintains critical information in data privacy control systems.
• Participates as the Global Privacy Office representative in cross-functional third party review meetings.
• Utilizes and oversees departmental operation of the Company's privacy mailbox and case management system, including the triage of matters between team members, and identifies and oversees implementation of improvements to case handling procedures.
• Provides technical support and guidance in complex investigations and the corrective actions process.
• Maintains all privacy office documentation and artifacts in designated departmental document repositories.
• Identifies new template and documentation needs and assists with the development of draft documentation or templates, with oversight from Company privacy attorneys.
• Supports the process for providing responses to client and other sources of internal and external audits, questionnaires, certifications, etc. related to the Company's privacy program, including development of content for standard FAQ library. May attend audits on behalf of the Company.
• Collaborates with other departments and personnel (e.g., Human Resources, Business Technology, and Corporate Communications) in the development of policies, operational procedures, the documentation of data flows, data privacy impact assessments, third party diligence, and processing activities.
• Documents corrective action or remediation plans, including developing mechanisms for monitoring compliance with established policies and procedures.
• Develops routine reports and presentations to measure the operation and effectiveness of the company's privacy program.
• Performs special assignments and projects as neededWhat we're looking for
• Possesses an undergraduate degree and privacy program experience, preferably in a global organization; relevant industry certifications (e.g., CIPM, CIPP/E, CIPP/US) preferred.
• Possesses expert knowledge of applicable data privacy, regulations and standards.
• Possesses a solid understanding of state-of-the-art technological and organizational security controls.
• Possesses experience implementing a wide range of policy and operational elements of an effective global privacy program, including privacy policies and procedures, training and education, risk assessments, etc.
• Performs complex conceptual analyses, solves complex problems and develops innovative solutions and approaches for the company's privacy program.
• Provides explanations and information to others on the most complex corporate privacy program issues.
• Sought out as a corporate privacy expert and serves as a leader/mentor.
• Reviews work performed by others and provides recommendations for improvement.
• Determines methods and procedures on new assignments and may coordinate activities of other personnel (Project Lead).
• Possesses excellent analytical skills with ability to understand technical concepts, a bias toward action, a desire to find business-oriented solutions to complex problems, and a passion for excellence.
• Able to operate with limited supervision.
• Possesses excellent communication skills.
• Is detail oriented with strong organizational skills.
• Possesses a high degree of integrity.
• Prior experience working in the pharmaceutical, biotech or medical device industry is a plus.
