For the Research Scientist we are looking for candidates who can work from the Aberdeen, UK site full time (once restrictions are eased) and have a PhD with relevant post-doctoral or industry experience in Microbiology, Biochemistry,
A strong background in a wide range of microbiological techniques is required for this position with a particular emphasis on mass spectrometry, HPLC and techniques required for the quantification of bacteria metabolites. Knowledge of host-microbe communication, ideally in the field of gut microbiome research, is also highly desirable.
You will need to have current or recent experience in the expertise in the detection, quantification, and purification of bacterial metabolites and experience in in silico analysis of bacterial metabolic pathways.
Experience in a range of microbiological techniques and proven expertise in assay development is also needed.
Ideally, you will have an understanding in or experience of gut microbiome and host-microbe interactions. Experience of the design and execution of screening assays relevant to host-microbe interactions would be desirable.
There are no direct reports to the Research Scientist however, you will be supporting Research Technicians and Research Assistants with the support of the Team Lead.
Qualifications and Experience
- PhD with relevant post-doctoral or industry experience in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, or related discipline.
- Expertise in the detection, quantification, and purification of bacterial metabolites.
- Experience in the in silico analysis of bacterial metabolic pathways.
- Experience in a range of microbiological techniques and proven expertise in assay development.
