Main responsibilities:
- Manage and coordinate workflows, online publications, manuscript submission and peers reviews in line with the journals processes and procedures, while ensuring strict adherence to timelines.
- Support the editorial process through handling of direct submissions
- Manage relationships and organize meetings, written updates and calls for the editors in chief and the editorial board
- Manage budget and facilitate building opportunities for scientific writing opportunities and educational activities
- Support trend analysis and report on developments related to state of market and governing policies both locally and globally
- Work with multidisciplinary teams to conduct, report and monitor the analysis of the company’s performance and long term strategic goals
- Mentor, supervise and train junior staff throughout their development
Requirements:
- A PhD or advanced degree in a relevant scientific area or public health
- >3 years’ experience in scientific publishing
- >3 years’ experience in the medical or public health research including medical writing and acting as a peer reviewer
- Experience managing large scale projects
- Experience mentoring and teaching junior staff is beneficial
- Fluency in English (Oral and Written), working knowledge of French is beneficial
- Strong understanding of HIV prevention and development of HIV vaccines
- Excellent communication skills with a particular focus on written communication
- Highly organized and systemic with a strong attention to detail
- Ability to travel for work
