The Veterinary Medicines Directorate (VMD) is an Executive Agency of the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and is responsible for ensuring the safety, quality, and efficacy of veterinary medicines in the UK.

We have a vacancy for a senior scientific officer (SSO) pharmaceutical assessor in our Quality team based in Addlestone, Surrey.

This exciting and interesting job puts you at the heart of authorising animal medicines for the UK market. You will assess quality data submitted in support of applications for the authorisation of pharmaceutical products. Your work plays a major role in assuring the quality and, hence, the safety and efficacy of animal medicines. You may manage and develop assessorsin the Quality Team. Your work will significantly contribute to the VMD meeting its published standards.

You must have extensive knowledge of pharmaceutical science and relevant experience within the human or veterinary pharmaceutical (or closely related) industry, or as an assessor within another regulatory body.

A degree or equivalent in pharmacy, chemistry, pharmaceutical science or another relevant subject is essential.
