About the role

Imagine combining academic creativity and discovery with industrial focus and rigor. This position is for a highly innovative immunoassay scientist to develop and pilot new technologies and assay formats in support of challenging antibody generation and validation projects.

We are looking to recruit an experienced and creative scientist with the clarity to design solutions matching diverse priorities of unique projects and different stages of development. This is an important role for developing technical capabilities required to remove key roadblocks in life sciences and medical research. This is not a supervisory role; however you will contribute technical leadership and peer training.

Roles & Responsibilities:
  • Be the go-to site immunoassay expert, with firm understanding of principles and practicalities of flow cytometry and cell sorting, sandwich and cell-ELISAs, bioassays, biophysical characterization, and other readout technologies for antibody validation.
  • Continuously explore and implement technology improvements. This involves implementing high throughput testing and producing robust methods for new targets where benchmarkers and reference materials are not commercially available, as well as optimizing and standardizing across sites.
  • Design and validate new assay formats and protocols, then ensure their transfer for integration into standard work streams across the company. Support immunoassay troubleshooting and root cause analysis.
  • Conduct project-related information and literature searches. Organize and present information including informal discussions, project meetings, writing formal reports and SOPs, and training peers from a wide variety of backgrounds.
  • Help establish and maintain robust experimental design, high-quality standards for data analysis / interpretation, and promote First Time Quality.
  • Perform mammalian cell cultures, including stimulations and selections on adherent and suspension cell lines, primary and established lines, hybridomas, stem cells, and immune cell co-cultures

About you
  • Our ideal candidate will be educated to PhD or equivalent (MSc, with relevant experience) with at least three years of direct hands-on laboratory experience and knowledge in immunoassay design and development. You have a history of taking ownership of your activities and responsibility for the outcome.
  • You have the foresight to determine what data is critical and how to rapidly acquire it, along with the ability to discern and remove moderately complex roadblocks.
  • You have mastery of practical and theoretical aspects of immunoassays and flow cytometry. NGS/nucleic acid applications or biophysical/biochemical knowledge would also be advantageous.
  • You have extensive experience in culturing various mammalian cell cultures, including but not limited to primary cells, hybridomas, stem cells and alternative cell models (e.g 3D culture, organoids), you have experience in establishing new cell biology models and protocols.
  • You learn different scientific applications quickly and contribute regularly to a diverse and high-performing team. You are confident and clear in interpreting complex data across multiple applications, as well as proactive about resolving problems or technology limitations.
  • You are an enthusiastic team-player with excellent communication skills. You are comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in cross-functional teams (which may include external partners or vendors).
  • Ability to program in languages such as R or Python to support complex data management and visualization would be a benefit .

If this sounds like you and you'd like to be a part of a fast-paced, growing business with the vision to become the most influential company and best-loved brand in life sciences, please apply now!
