Start Up Manager in Clinical Operations - France

As a Line Manager at PPD, you will select, train, coach and manage staff across study start up and, potentially, the wider clinical department. You will focus on end results using metrics and key performance indicators to manage performance. You may also lead or contribute to initiatives
that enhance the department's performance or lead to process improvement across PPD. Responsibilities include:
  • Direct line management of a team (up to 15 staff, mainly accross SSU and potentially Clinical)
  • Manage start-up and monitoring activities and may act as the lead for an area of focus.
  • Provide input based on expertise/experience to internal customers resulting in internal/external customer satisfaction.
  • Manage the contractual aspects of studies in collaboration with project teams.
  • Manage operational delivery by monitoring the progress of studies against the established project plan and coordinating with client sponsors.
  • Ensure that risks and issues are properly routed and resolved in coordination with other departments and key stakeholders.
  • Develop or contribute to local WPDs and leads/participates in process improvement initiatives.
  • Alert management to quality issues and facilitates client and internal quality assurance audits as required.
  • Provide input into the bidding process and contributes to the procurement of new business.
  • Manage the allocation of staff to projects.
  • Ensure all staff CVs, training records, position profiles and experience profiles are complete and up to date.


Qualifications:

Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a life science related field.
  • Significant clinical research experience (min 5+ years) including experience in all phases of study life cycle, including start up, interim and close out.
  • Previous line management experience is essential
  • Experience managing staff across start up and clinical departments is beneficial

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Excellent mentoring/leadership/supervisory skills
  • Strong knowledge of SSU process in France, including EC & Regulatory submissions
  • Advanced knowledge of clinical trials monitoring; Remote and on-site (beneficial)
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate medical research data
  • Strong organizational and negotiation skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Effective written and oral communication skills
  • Good knowledge of English language and grammar
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Excellent team player with team building skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques applicable to constantly changing environment
  • Solid knowledge of medical/therapeutic areas and medical terminology
